The Opportunity

As a Lead Data Scientist , you will utilize your technical expertise and industry experience to drive the application and scalability of artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI / ML) across USAA's enterprise. This includes enhancing operations such as call center optimization, complaints program analytics, and digital servicing enhancements . You will be at the forefront of intelligent automation and personalization through next best action recommendations and predictive servicing strategies. By collaborating with business leaders, product teams, and stakeholders, you will identify innovative opportunities for advanced analytics solutions and guide them from concept to implementation.

This role offers flexibility, with an expectation to be in the office 4 days per week . The position can be located in San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, or Tampa, FL.

Relocation assistance is available for this position.

What you'll do :

• Identify, research, and define large-scale, cross-functional AI / ML use cases in collaboration with business leaders and strategic partners.
• Amplify the impact of modeling techniques on emerging business initiatives and collaborate with IT architects for the design and implementation of cutting-edge AI / ML solutions.
• Ensure AI / ML solutions adhere to best practices. Work with model risk partners to promote regulatory compliance.
• Design complex information assets enabling applied analytics and collaborate to establish well-governed datasets from various sources.
• Explore opportunities to simplify and modernize the model development lifecycle, providing technical guidance and vetting vendor acquisitions.
• Contribute to talent and recruitment efforts by leading initiatives and participating in technical interview panels.
• Translate complex analytical concepts into clear language for diverse audiences to foster organizational data literacy.
• Oversee the creation and maintenance of a library of reusable, production-quality algorithms and supporting code.
• Develop and maintain industry relationships for research, representing USAA in relevant conferences.
• Proactively identify and manage risks associated with business activities according to compliance policies.

Compensation range : The salary range for this position is : $217,520 - $415,760.

Compensation : USAA evaluates market data to ensure competitive salary ranges based on experience and geographical factors.

Employees may also be eligible for performance-based incentives.
