Leidos' Defense Systems, Sensor Systems Analysis & Engineering Portfolio, is seeking a Software Engineer to join our team for electro-optical / infrared (EO / IR) applications. You will join a diverse team of junior-to-senior software developers, engineers, and scientists to help create unique solutions for complex problems.

Our team solves important problems that make a difference and support our customers in the current and future defense of our nation; primarily in (but not limited to) the areas of sensor integration, testing, characterization, modeling, simulation, data analysis, and algorithm development for EO / IR systems.

The ideal developer candidate will also demonstrate experience in and / or enthusiasm toward developing a broader technical capability to support overlapping engineering and scientific disciplines with but a particular focus on writing software to solve problems.

Will support multiple tasks in parallel, productively contribute to a team environment, and communicate effectively to management, coworkers, and customers.

Primary Responsibilities

Work closely with a team of engineers and scientists to write software (using primarily C++ and Python) to solve problems in a variety of disciplines to include EO / IR sensor systems.

An ability to interface and troubleshoot with hardware via Ethernet, USB, RS-232, high speed I / O, etc. is expected.

Have the ability to work and communicate effectively with a multidisciplinary team while having familiarity with developing both Windows and Linux OS.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in software engineering, computer science, or an equivalent engineering or science degree with relevant software-related experience plus 4-8 years of experience in a related field or Master's degree from an accredited university in software engineering, computer science, or an equivalent engineering or science degree with relevant software-related experience plus 2-6 years of experience in a related field.

Intermediate ability in C++ and Python

Must be a US citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL, area.

Preferred Qualifications

The ability to create design documentation, requirements specifications, and other technical documentation.

Recent stellar academic performance

Active SECRET clearance or above

Experience with camera interfaces such as Camera Link, CoaXPress, GigE Vision, etc.

Experience with version control systems such as Git; familiarity or interest in EO / IR phenomenology.

Experience with image processing.

Experience with GPU programming and / or CUDA programming.

Experience with developing AI / ML solutions.

Experience with building systems such as CMake.

Pay Range :

Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00
