Director of Warehouse
The Warehouse Director position will perform the following duties :
Warehouse Operations Management
- Direct daily operations of receiving, storage, inventory management, picking, packing, and shipping
- Oversee material handling for raw ingredients, packaging materials, and finished cheese products (2M+ lbs / week)
- Manage temperature-controlled storage areas including coolers (34-40F) and freezers (0F and below)
- Ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment to meet customer delivery requirements
- Optimize warehouse layout, racking systems, and material flow for maximum efficiency
- Coordinate inbound / outbound logistics and carrier relationships
- Manage warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, RF scanners, and material handling systems
Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance
Maintain compliance with FDA, USDA, HACCP, GMP, and SQF requirementsImplement and enforce food safety protocols for dairy product handling and storageEnsure proper temperature monitoring and cold chain managementCoordinate with Quality Assurance on lot traceability, product holds, and recallsPrepare for and manage third-party audits and regulatory inspectionsMaintain documentation and records per regulatory requirementsInventory Management
Maintain inventory accuracy of 99% or higher through cycle counting programsImplement FIFO (First In, First Out) rotation proceduresMonitor inventory levels and work with Planning / Procurement on replenishmentInvestigate and resolve inventory discrepanciesManage WMS (Warehouse Management System) and ERP system transactionsConduct periodic physical inventoriesTeam Leadership & Supervision
Supervise warehouse management team (supervisors, leads, coordinators)Recruit, hire, train, and develop warehouse personnelConduct performance evaluations and manage disciplinary actionsSchedule workforce to support 24 / 7 operations across multiple shiftsDevelop training programs for equipment operation, food safety, and warehouse proceduresFoster teamwork and maintain positive employee relationsSafety Management
Ensure OSHA compliance and maintain safe working environmentConduct safety training and enforce safety policies and proceduresInvestigate accidents / incidents and implement corrective actionsManage forklift certification and equipment safety programsLead safety audits and inspectionsBudget & Financial Management
Develop and manage annual warehouse operating budgetControl labor costs, overtime, and operational expensesMonitor and report on key financial metricsIdentify cost reduction opportunitiesApprove warehouse-related capital expenditures and maintenance requestsContinuous Improvement
Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiencyLead Lean / Six Sigma initiatives in warehouse operationsAnalyze operational data and KPIs to drive performance improvementsImplement automation and technology solutions where appropriateSupervisory Responsibilities
Direct supervision of 3-5 Warehouse Supervisors / LeadsIndirect supervision of 25-50 warehouse associates across multiple shiftsResponsible for hiring, training, performance management, and termination decisionsPhysical Demands
Stand and walk for extended periodsWork in cold environments (coolers 34-40F, freezers below 0F)Climb stairs and laddersLift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionallyBend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motionsWork Environment

Required Qualifications :
Education : Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field experienceExperience : Minimum 8 years warehouse / distribution management experience Minimum 5 years in leadership role managing multi-shift operations Food manufacturing or dairy industry experience required Cold storage / temperature-controlled warehouse experience required Experience with WMS and ERP systems requiredCertifications & Licenses : Valid driver's license Forklift certification (or ability to obtain) Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferredPreferred Qualifications :
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities : Thorough knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, and logistics Strong understanding of FDA, USDA, HACCP, and GMP requirements for food manufacturing Proficiency with WMS, ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JDE), and Microsoft Office Suite Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to manage budgets and analyze financial data Strong organizational and time management abilities Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlinesCompany Description :
