Overview
Under general supervision, responsible for acting as a lead room attendant and provides training related to custodial work of average difficulty in common areas and guest rooms. This classification is responsible for leading and training Tennessee State Parks employees on maintaining the appearance and a high standard of cleanliness of the guest rooms, public areas, meeting space, linen closets, and exterior of the Lodge. Guest Room Attendants refresh rooms for guests who are continuing their stay, and thoroughly clean rooms of guests who have checked out in preparation for the next guest checking in. Performs general cleaning of rooms or projects as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Cleans and stocks lodge rooms and cabin facilities in an efficient manner by making beds, dusting furniture, vacuuming, emptying trash, and straightening work areas. Periodically performs deep cleaning activities, including shampooing carpets, and washing walls and windows. Performs or leads others in performing duties such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and buffing floors by hand or by machine. Uses appropriate cleaning chemicals on appropriate surfaces to ensure proper sanitation without damaging surfaces.
- Responsible for the training and leading of the housekeeping staff in a Tennessee State Parks hospitality business to ensure operations are clean.
- Cleans lodge room, cabin, and public restrooms by sanitizing toilets, cleaning sinks, cleaning and sanitizing showers, mopping floors, cleaning mirrors, and emptying trash. Executes in-house laundry requirements for cleaning rags, terry, or other cleaning tools as necessary and appropriate.
- Communicates clean rooms that are back in inventory to front desk personnel, so they are aware of when early check-in can occur.
- Maintain appearance of public spaces by keeping hallways and lobbies uncluttered and neat looking, including keeping cart in front of guest room door and eliminating cart damage to walls, doors and floor covering, and policing grounds to pick up trash and check for any other needed maintenance.
- Inspects room and communicates maintenance work order requests to the Chief of Maintenance or the building maintenance staff. Keeps noise to minimum in corridors and honors any do-not-disturb sign on Lodge room doors.
- Ensure proper inventory, organization and maintenance of cleaning supplies by stocking carts and closets with housekeeping supplies. Bags, tags and turns in all lost and found items immediately to Supervisor.
- Provide customer service by responds to all lodge guests efficiently and in an appropriately friendly manner.
