Journeyman Commercial Roofer - Service Department Trainer

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Roofing Journeyman to play a key role in training and mentoring our service department team. This position requires both hands-on technical expertise and the ability to teach, coach, and develop roofing technicians to ensure quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. The Journeyman will assist with service calls, troubleshoot roof issues, and provide ongoing training to build a strong and reliable service team.

• Key Responsibilities :
• Lead and train service department staff in commercial roofing repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance.
• Demonstrate proper installation, repair, and safety procedures for multiple commercial roofing systems (TPO, EPDM, PVC, Modified Bitumen, Built-Up, Metal, etc.).
• Assist in diagnosing leaks and service issues; provide guidance on efficient, high-quality repairs.
• Ensure all service work is performed in compliance with company standards, OSHA requirements, and manufacturer specifications.
• Mentor team members on best practices in customer communication, professionalism, and jobsite conduct.
• Support the Service Manager in developing training materials, processes, and field evaluations.
• Participate in hands-on service work as needed while modeling proper techniques.
• Provide feedback and evaluations of service technicians' progress and skill development.
• Maintain accurate documentation of training activities, service work performed, and materials used.
• Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the service department.
• Qualifications :
• Minimum 4-6 years of experience in commercial roofing, with strong knowledge of multiple roofing systems.
• Journeyman-level skills in installation, repair, and maintenance.
• Prior experience training or mentoring roofing apprentices, helpers, or technicians preferred.
• Strong understanding of OSHA standards, fall protection, and general jobsite safety.
• Ability to effectively communicate and teach in both hands-on and instructional settings.
• Problem-solving skills to quickly diagnose and repair roof leaks / issues.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work at heights for extended periods.
