Do you thrive in environments where uptime is everything and network downtime is next to non-existent ? We're looking for a sharp, detail-oriented Network Administrator to support the U.S. Navy in keep ing critical systems running smoothly, securely, and at peak performance .

Position Description : The N etwork Administrator m anages and maintains the critical U.S. Navy network infrastructure to ensure secure, reliable, and high-performance connectivity across all systems and users.

Minimum / General Experience : 5 years of experience in network administration

Minimum Education : Bachelors' Degree in Computer Science , Information Technology , or other related fiel d

Essential Skills / Qualifications :

  • Above average knowledge of network administration including installing, administering, and troubleshooting network hardware (e.g., hotel Wi-Fi services)
  • Above average knowledge of network monitoring and server management tools
  • Above average knowledge of network security principles, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems
  • Above average experience maintaining compliance and providing guidance on security requirements
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships
  • Ability to collaborate and problem-solve in a team environment

General Physical Requirements needed to perform the essential functions of this job may vary based on the location of the assignment .

  • Assignment Location - COMNAVSURFLANT (CNSL) , Naval Base, Norfolk, VA ; Consists of travel up to a 50-mile radius.
  • Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and / or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift , carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Typing, communicating , repetitive motions.
  • Close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data, view computer monitors and read. May need to view presentation screens and other visual aids in a virtual setting.
  • Inside environmental conditions with protection from outside elements.

    • Security : Must have an active Secret security clearance to be considered; Ability to maintain a DoD Clearance

  • U.S. Citizenship

    • DoD Clearance Consists of a review of up to but not limited to :

  • Covers 10 year period and in some instances lifetime events
  • OPM Security Investigations Index (SII)
  • DOD Defense Central Investigations Index (DCII)
  • National Agency Check (NAC) records
  • FBI name check
  • FBI fingerprint check
  • Credit report check
  • A check of local law enforcement agencies with jurisdiction over the areas where the applicant has lived, worked, or attended school
  • Education check- Attendance and Degrees
  • Employment verification -may include interviews of supervisors and / or co-workers
  • Corroboration of unemployment
  • May include reference interviews
  • May include interviews of the individual, former spouse (s)
  • Confirmation of all residences
  • Verification of public record information

    • Tasks / activities include, but are not limited to :

  • C onfigure s and maintain s security requirements on in-house network equipment needed to comply with existing Authority to Operate (ATO)
  • Provide s guidance and push es security policy updates to CNSL ships outfitted with hotel Wi-Fi services
  • P rovide s troubleshooting efforts on shipboard hotel Wi-Fi services
  • P erform s maintenance checks on equipment in-house and onboard CNSL ships

    • Compensation & Benefits : The annual projected pay range for this position is $75,155 - $91,516 with consideration being given to various factors including but not limited to qualifications, experience, job responsibilities, and geographic location.
