Summary

Redwire Space Missions has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Engineering, Spacecraft Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T) at our Littleton, CO facility. In this role, you will lead and scale the AI&T organization within the Space Missions Engineering organization, responsible for developing and executing spacecraft integration, test, and verification activities across multiple programs. This role combines functional leadership-driving process discipline, capability growth, and workforce development-with direct program support, ensuring successful system integration and delivery of space flight hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and grow the AI&T functional organization in alignment to business needs.
  • Lead hiring efforts, performance management, and mentorship for AI&T staff.
  • Establish and maintain AI&T best practices, standards, and infrastructure to ensure repeatable, efficient, and high-quality execution across all programs.
  • Provide direct technical and execution leadership on key Space Missions programs, supporting integration planning, test readiness, anomaly resolution, and launch campaign activities.
  • Collaborate with other Engineering functions and Program Management to define and execute integration and test campaigns aligned with program cost, schedule, and performance objectives.
  • Oversee test facility planning, equipment readiness, and test article configuration control, ensuring compliance with safety and quality requirements.
  • Serve as the technical authority for system-level environmental test campaigns, including vibration, thermal vacuum, EMI / EMC, and end-to-end functional testing.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve integration flow, reduce cycle time, and increase test efficiency through process optimization and tool adoption.
  • Participate in proposal development, customer engagements, and planning activities, representing AI&T.

Ideal Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or related STEM field.
  • 16+ years of experience supporting government or commercial space programs.
  • 5+ years of experience planning and executing integration and test campaigns for space flight hardware.
  • 2+ years of experience serving in an engineering or functional leadership role with mentoring of other engineers.
  • Eligible for a U.S. security clearance.
  • Desired Skills

  • Master's degree in Systems Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Expert understanding of spacecraft systems, test architectures, ground support equipment (GSE), and environmental testing.
  • Experience leading AI&T teams supporting multiple concurrent spacecraft test campaigns.
  • Deep expertise in environmental testing, including shock, vibration, thermal vacuum, and EMI / EMC.
  • Working knowledge of digital test management, automated data collection, and configuration tracking tools.
  • Experience with requirements and verification management tools such as DOORS, Jama, or equivalent.
  • Experience with agile task execution tools, such as Jira or Confluence.
  • Experience defining and satisfying success criteria in alignment to test and launch readiness.
  • Experience with launch vehicle integration and pre-launch operations.
  • Demonstrated success in building high-performing technical organizations and scaling capability to match business growth.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to lead both functional and cross-program teams.
  • Active DoD security clearance.
  • Ability to travel - an average of 15% travel may be required.

    Pay Range

    $188,000-235,000 / yr

    How We Determine What We Pay (Compensation Philosophy)

    Redwire determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for our locations throughout the US. We will evaluate external equity and the cost of labor / prevailing wage index, in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.

    For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth. Salaries will be based on the applicant's level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position. An employee / candidate with a stronger skill set will receive higher pay.
