Position Summary : The Culinary Support Specialist is part of the Memory care team and plays a lead role assisting with kitchen and dining room operations on our small home model memory care floors, ensuring a high-quality culinary experience for our residents. This role emphasizes both the preparation and presentation of food as well as fostering a warm, comforting, engaging, nurturing, home-like environment for our residents. The Culinary Support Specialist - Memory Care demonstrates a passion for the kitchen and has deep understanding of and patience for working with individuals with cognitive impairments.
Memory Care Server – Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Prior experience in food service, hospitality, or senior living preferred (especially in Memory Care or dementia-support settings).
Familiarity with serving protocols in assisted living or healthcare environments is a plus.
Knowledge & Skills
Compassionate, patient, and understanding when interacting with residents living with dementia or cognitive impairment.
Ability to follow dietary orders, portion guidelines, and special diet requirements (e.g., mechanical soft, puree, low-sodium).
Strong communication skills — able to engage residents in a calm, respectful, and friendly manner.
Awareness of safety and sanitation standards, including food handling and infection control.
Observant and responsive to residents’ needs and behavioral cues.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, carry trays, and assist residents safely as needed.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with frequent resident interaction.
Personal Qualities
Warm, positive attitude and genuine interest in serving older adults.
Team player who collaborates well with nursing and caregiving staff.
Reliable and punctual, with flexibility for weekends and holidays.
