Our esteemed client in Hartford, CT, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented accountant for a contract position. As a Contract Accountant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accuracy and compliance in financial processes, including reconciliation tasks, financial reporting, and ledger management. You’ll work closely with internal and external stakeholders, applying strong problem-solving abilities and accounting expertise.
Key Responsibilities :
- Manage general ledger accounting and ensure timely reconciliations of accounts.
 - Prepare and analyze financial statements with a focus on compliance and accuracy.
 - Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
 - Maintain detailed documentation of financial transactions and audit trails.
 - Support budgeting processes and provide variance analyses.
 - Collaborate with internal teams and / or external auditors during audits as needed.
 - Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations as well as organizational policies.
 - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
 - Proven experience in accounting roles (minimum 3+ years preferred).
 - Mastery of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
 - Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or equivalent).
 - Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and complex formulas.
 - Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
 - Effective communication skills for collaborating across teams and business stakeholders.
