About Living Classrooms
Founded in Baltimore in 1985, Living Classrooms Foundationis a Baltimore - Washington, DC nonprofit that disrupts the cycle of povertyand helps our community become safer, stronger, and healthier by buildingskills for life. Living Classrooms inspires children, youth, and adults toachieve their potential through hands-on education, workforce development,health and wellness, and violence prevention programming. Living Classrooms hasdeveloped a distinctive competency in experiential learning - learning bydirect experience - or what we call "learning by doing." We utilize ourenvironmental campuses, athletic fields, community centers, and historic shipsas "living classrooms." We work with one child, one teen, one adult, and onefamily at a time to identify existing barriers towards success and provideresources and opportunities to help each person reach their full potential,thus supporting stronger family units and more resilient communities.
While each of our program areas is distinct, in combinationthey create a powerful synergy. Our maritime heritage sites createopportunities for employment training. Our educational programs use ourenvironmental and maritime resources as living learning laboratories. Ouremployability programs create stronger communities that are better prepared toexercise environmental stewardship.
The Workforce Development ProgramAdministrator oversees the implementation of strategic initiatives under thesupervision of the Managing Director of Workforce Development and assists theManaging Director with program development. The goal of this position to improve theorganizational structure by addressing knowledge and skills gap and assistingwith the designing and implementing of improvements to organizationalprocedures and structure to increase efficiency. The Program Administrator also handles allcomponents of post-award grant / contract management, including grant compliance,reporting, staff training & education. Develops systems to measure andmonitor financial, program, and grant performance more effectively. Theindividual will serve as the primary internal & external point of contactfor all questions regarding grant / contract compliance and reporting.
