Scope :

Responsible for cleaning and maintaining public areas of the hotel in accordance with established cleanliness standards to ensure a welcoming and sanitary environment for guests and staff.

Primary Responsibilities :

Inspect public areas regularly to ensure cleanliness and maintenance standards are met; report issues to supervisor.

Assist room attendants with heavy lifting (e.g., mattresses, soiled linens) and supply delivery.

Shampoo carpets, strip and wax floors, and maintain all floor surfaces throughout the property.

Clean designated areas including lobbies, public restrooms, hallways, and back-of-house areas.

Collect trash from guest floors, housekeeping carts, vending / service areas, offices, and restrooms.

Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests such as delivery of additional linens, rollaway beds, or other housekeeping supplies.

Ensure guest satisfaction through friendly, timely, and attentive service.

Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.

Internal Collaboration :

Engineering Department – Report repair needs.

Laundry Department – Deliver and retrieve linens.

Room Attendants – Provide and collect linen and housekeeping supplies.

Qualifications :

Education & Experience :

Basic reading, writing, and math skills required.

Prior housekeeping or custodial experience is a plus, but not required.

Working Conditions :

Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.

Regular exposure to cleaning chemicals.

May be required to work overtime as needed.

Physical & Cognitive Requirements :

This role involves significant physical activity and manual labor, including :

Frequent lifting (up to 75 lbs) and pushing / pulling (up to 500 lbs).

Prolonged walking, standing, bending, and reaching.

Operating commercial cleaning equipment (e.g., vacuums, carpet shampooers, floor buffers, wet vacuums).

Occasional guest interaction requiring polite, clear communication.

Problem-solving skills used to address operational or guest-related challenges.
