Job Description Summary The Office of Leadership Engagement is a function for co-curricular leadership education, programming, and partnerships in the Division of Campus Life at Wake Forest University. The Director leads a team of professionals to create and promote pathways for all students to pursue meaningful co-curricular leadership and engagement opportunities. The Director works collaboratively to develop a cohesive framework for co-curricular leadership education, communicate a strategic vision, and evaluate programs. Job Description

Essential Functions :

Provide strategic planning, oversight, and development for co-curricular leadership education in the Division of Campus Life.

Oversee signature student leadership programs and events which may include the ACC Leadership Symposium, LeaderShape Institute, and Leadership Winston-Salem.

Implement a comprehensive approach to strengths-based education utilizing CliftonStrengths.

Develop a cohesive, sequenced curriculum for leaders of student organizations, fraternities and sororities, and leadership teams with clear learning outcomes and assessment.

Serve as content expert in co-curricular leadership education and implement promising practices in leadership development based in student development theory.

Utilize current research on leadership theory to develop a leadership education portfolio with clear learning outcomes, competencies, and assessment.

Develop a sequence of co-curricular educational programs that encourage students to clarify their values, beliefs, strengths, and interests; identify shared goals; and develop the skills to impact change in their communities.

Support the strategic development of dialogue programs that encourage students to clarify their own beliefs, encounter different perspectives, and communicate across differences.

Design, implement, and assess workshops, conferences, retreats, and training opportunities to facilitate strengths-based skill development related to leadership, character, integrity, and social change.

Deliver training to student groups, organizations, fraternities and sororities, student employees, and departments, as needed.

Collaborate with other units and departments including, but not limited to the Program for Leadership and Character, Allegacy Center for Leadership, and academic approaches to leadership and character education.

Develop a strategic communication plan to highlight leadership stories and share the impact of leadership initiatives on campus and in the community.

Manage all unit funds; analyze financial expenditures, develop forecasts, and facilitate annual budget preparation to ensure fiscal responsibility.

Provide supervision, support, and professional mentorship for two professional staff.

Integrate assessment and evaluation to capture the impact of leadership programs.

Serve on committees, task forces, and working groups in the Division of Campus Life.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities :

Masters degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related field.

At least three years of relevant experience.

Demonstrated experience in the field of student leadership development.

Experience with program development and assessment.

Ability to work independently and to manage others.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities :

Doctorate in higher education or related field

Experience as a manager and supervisor of professional staff.

Five or more years of experience.

Accountabilities :

Responsible for their own work.

Supervises three professional staff members.

Supervises student and graduate student employees as needed.
