French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking a Staff Engineer for our Structural Department in Newark, NJ.
Responsibilities
Assist in the analysis and design of building structures using steel, concrete, masonry, and timber materials.
Prepare structural calculations, design drawings, and specifications under the supervision of senior engineers.
Perform modeling and analysis using structural design software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, RAM, or similar).
Coordinate with architects and other engineering disciplines to develop integrated design solutions.
Conduct site visits, field inspections, and assist in preparing technical reports.
Support project documentation, quality control reviews, and construction administration tasks.
Participate in internal design discussions and contribute innovative ideas to improve design efficiency and quality.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Structural Engineering (preferred) or Civil Engineering with a focus on structures.
0–2 years of relevant experience in building design.
EIT certification or ability to obtain within one year required; PE license a plus.
Proficiency in structural analysis and design software, as well as AutoCAD and / or Revit.
Strong understanding of building codes and design standards (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, etc.).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Compensation
The projected compensation range for this position is $70,000 to $77,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as experience, education and skill set.
