Job description

Job Summary

The Configuration Management (CM) Specialist role involves ERP entry and management of datasets for parts or assemblies that are purchased, designed, built, and / or tested. This position supports the transition of Engineering prototypes through volume manufacturing for repeatable, lean, and successful product realization. The CM Specialist creates and manages configurations of parts and products using systematic change control processes and tools to enable efficient downstream procurement, real-time inventory management, and comprehensive production planning.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accurate and timely entry of data into the ERP for configurable items, including :
  • Electronic components and PCB assemblies
  • Cables
  • Mechanical parts and assemblies
  • Firmware and software releases
  • Assembly and Test fixtures
  • Special processes and finishes
  • Other product realization-related data
  • Creation and control of Bill of Materials (BOMs) a.k.a. Production Lists (PLs)
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Document Control, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Sales, and Customer Service to obtain required inputs
  • Integrate support documentation and fixturing into BOMs to support resource and capacity planning
  • Maintain accurate supplier and MFG part numbers data for all Approved Manufacturer Listings (AMLs) in collaboration with Purchasing and Engineering
  • Develop and maintain Service Production Lists used for RMAs
  • Train and enforce Revision Control rules across the product realization chain : Engineering to Supply Chain to Manufacturing
  • Facilitate the drawing and work instruction release processes
  • Monitor the flow of changes from redline proposal to release
  • Gate releases to ensure accurate implementation of approved content changes
  • Drawing types include supplier-provided, Customer Source Control, designed mechanical and electrical parts and assemblies, electronic schematics, etc.
  • Work instruction types include in-house build / test instructions, field use instructions, contract manufacturer (CM) instructions, etc.
  • Collaborate with all departments to ensure timely release of content changes per stakeholder approval to prevent delays
  • Perform and continually improve the Issue System (ISS), change control, and related processes
  • Develop and update configuration flow and workflow diagrams to visualize proposed changes
  • Assist with or prepare change proposals resulting in Document and Engineering Change Orders (DCO and ECO)
  • Support the execution of change activities through completion / closure
  • Support TA Processes within the QMS to satisfy quality and on-time delivery objectives, including NCR, CA, and DCO

Position Requirements

  • Associate degree in business or technical field, or over 10 years of applicable experience
  • ERP data entry and data management
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio
  • Adobe Acrobat, PDF editor applications
  • JIRA or other task management applications
  • Highly detail-oriented
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • May participate in identity verification processes to access secure client or government portals as part of supplier or customer management
  • Physical Requirements

  • Ability to hear and speak clearly for information exchange
  • Dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and assemble / manufacture intricate items
  • Vision to read various materials
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; items over 50 pounds require teamwork or lifting equipment
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects as needed
  • Pay / Salary Information : Pay scale for this position depending on experience $33.71 to $40.00 per hour
