Assistant Director Of Experiential Learning
The Asst. Director of Experiential Learning will play a key role in preparing students for careers and graduate school through applied learning opportunities. This position will be responsible for working with external employers, current undergraduate students, and faculty / staff to create pipelines for internships, service opportunities, and employment pathways.
In addition, the Asst. Director will provide targeted support for College Corps Fellows, ensuring they are well-equipped for professional success during and after their fellowship year. This includes experiential learning initiatives, employer engagement, and career readiness programming tailored to the unique experiences of Fellows.
The Asst. Director will also contribute to the Center for Career & Vocation's strategic initiative of achieving a 95% successful launch rate for undergraduate students, while enhancing experiential and career development services for the broader student population.

Experiential Learning & College Corps Initiatives
- Implement and execute experiential learning initiatives that support Concordia's Career Services Department, with a focus on preparing College Corps Fellows and undergraduate students for post-graduate success.
- Target strategic employers to cultivate and strengthen relationships and partnerships. As needed, conduct personal visits to promote internships, job postings, service opportunities, and employer participation in professional development programming.
- Demonstrate knowledge of diverse student populations and apply best practices to develop students professionally for internships, careers, and graduate school opportunities.
Career and Professional Development
Provide students with individual career and professional development assistance; assist the targeted student population to understand issues impacting their major / career identification, the decision-making process, and to clarify goals and to make suitable career decisions.Maintains and enhances relationships with corporations and other organizations to develop and modify potential employer resources, and promotes external relations with the organization relating to career services for students and alumni.Evaluate and critique student resumes, cover letters, and other job search documents in order to meet varied industry standards.Participate in cross-departmental service delivery to constituencies such as First Year experience, WINGS, first-generation, and undeclared students.With a keen understanding of student career readiness needs, develops and implements workshops and information sessions, to include coordination with key stakeholders as appropriate.Training and Program Development
Research and identify career development resources and labor market information in support of fields of study and career options.Uses standard quantitative and qualitative assessments to help students assess strengths, values, and career goals.Develop, plan, and conduct orientation, seminars, workshops, and classroom presentations on topics such as career and job search strategies, resume writing, interviewing techniques, salary negotiations, setting up LinkedIn profiles, and social media brand management.Technology & Marketing
Researches, evaluates, and updates written and electronic career and educational resources. Presents industry data and trends to students during career counseling appointments and workshops.Promote and market partnerships with alumni to foster their participation as presenters for career and professional programming.Design and implement marketing campaigns in support of programming through the development and implementation of targeted communications for student and / or employer audiences based on major, career outcomes or next steps after graduation.Market the internship and job opportunities to faculty and students.Determine and set up program delivery formats, including live, recorded webinars, and virtual appointments.Other Responsibilities
Adhere to the Professional Competencies for College and University Career Services Practitioners.Participate in recommended professional activities to enhance skills, abilities, knowledge of career development practices, and to stay abreast of industry trends.Participate, collaborate, and attend meetings with the Student Affairs department, All Faculty / Staff, and the Student Success team.Serve on various campus or external committees as assigned.Participate in professional organizations' functions, which may include attending workshops and conferences.Supervise student workers as needed or as requested by the director.Duties require day, occasional evening, and weekend hours.Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the center on behalf of the university, its students, and alumni.As a member of Student Affairs, this position represents the Center for Career & Vocations in Student Success Team Meetings, Student Affairs Team Meetings, and All Faculty / Staff meetings.Education / Experience
1-3 years of experience in Career Services either in Higher Education or a Private Business EnvironmentExperience developing relationships with private employers including outreach initiatives with Hispanic businesses and the nonprofit sectorBachelor's degree from a four-year college or university required. Master's degree preferred.Full Time Staff, Non-Exempt
