The Electrophysiology Lab is a specialized invasive procedure suite where cardiac electrophysiology procedures are performed on patients from neonate through geriatrics. The Electrophysiology technician is an integral part the EP team and is responsible for operating the technical equipment used during complex EP procedures. A working knowledge base in an Electrophysiology Lab setting, operation of Mac Lab / Cardio Lab, endocardial mapping equipment including but not limited to Biosense Webster and Carto is required. The EP tech is required to work in the EP Procedural areas as well as in the OR and Hybrid Suite to assist with CVT duties outlined in this position description. Technical duties include pre / post procedure preparation including patient transport as required, operation of EP monitors and computers, maintains inventory control, and assists in maintaining a safe work environment. #CA-SB

- American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
- American Heart Association (AHA) or UCDH-issued Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- American Heart Association (AHA) or UCDH-issued Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 3 months of hire
- Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialists (RCES) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
- High School Diploma with equivalent work experience / training
- 1 year experience as a CVT tech - will consider course work in lieu of work experience
- Knowledge and ability to operate radiology and auxiliary equipment for assigned modality to provide quality images.
- Ability to move and manipulate equipment with knobs and switches
- Ability to work in an area with ionizing radiation and / or high magnetic field.
- Must be able to adapt to new programs and equipment upgrades as the radiological field advances.
- Knowledge and ability to operate imaging equipment to provide quality images.
- Must be competent in archiving, retrieving and exceptions handling with the PACS system.

The department includes two dedicated EP labs, each equipped with state-of-the-art mapping systems, fluoroscopy, and ablation technologies to support both diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.
Our expert team provides care to a broad patient population, from neonates to geriatric patients, ensuring individualized and age-appropriate management of complex rhythm disorders. Procedures performed in the EP lab include diagnostic EP studies, catheter ablations, pacemaker and implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) insertions, lead extractions, and device troubleshooting.
Highly skilled Electrophysiologists, Cardiovascular Technologists (CVTs), nurses, and anesthesia providers work collaboratively to deliver safe, precise, and patient-centered care using evidence-based practices and the latest innovations in cardiac electrophysiology.
