Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring ICP or ventric experience and strong telemetry skills.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Position is in the Neuro ICU of a hospital with an 18-bed critical care unit
  • Care for critically ill adult patients with neuro diagnoses such as stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, surgical resections, and trauma
  • Work schedule is evening / night, including 8 or 12-hour shifts from 7 : 00 PM to 7 : 30 AM, with every other weekend and some holidays required
  • Travelers are the first to float and may be scheduled in multiple units or locations based on staffing needs
  • Epic electronic medical record system is used and recent Epic experience is required
  • Role involves critical care nursing for complex neuro patients including the use of hemodynamic monitoring and hypothermia interventions
  • Strong emphasis on critical thinking and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
  • Orientation schedule is approximately one week and follows department-specific start dates
  • Orientation will be held at the main campus
  • Testing with strict pass / fail criteria is required, including 100% identification of lethal arrhythmias and passing scores of 80% or higher on telemetry exams
  • Scrub requirements and parking information available upon onboarding
  • First-time travelers are accepted for this position
  • Holiday rotation is required, with specifics determined by the unit

    • \n \n Requirements\n

  • Active WI or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association required
  • Minimum two years of acute care Neuro ICU experience within the last three years
  • Demonstrated ICP or ventric experience required
  • Basic arrhythmia experience required and candidates must pass a telemetry test before starting
  • Epic experience required, preferably within the last 12 months
  • Permanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the worksite
  • Telemetry test must be passed prior to orientation; failure after two attempts requires completion of a cardiac review course before a third attempt
