Jefferson RISE Charter School, founded by seven community members in 2014, will serve just under 800 students in grades 6-12 for the 2025-2026 school year. Located in Harvey, Louisiana, the school caters to a diverse student body from the Westbank of Jefferson Parish, consisting of 59% Black / African American, 24% White, 15% Hispanic, and 2% Asian students, with 87% qualifying as economically disadvantaged.

Position Overview

The Behavior Interventionist plays a critical role in promoting a safe, respectful, and responsible school culture by supporting students in developing the behavioral skills necessary for academic success.
Behavior Interventionists at RISE play a key role in creating a school culture where every student can thrive. They are consistent, calm under pressure, deeply committed to student growth, and capable of following through on systems with fidelity. They work proactively to prevent disruptions and respond effectively when interventions are needednever lowering the bar for student behavior, but always offering the support required to meet it.
Key Responsibilities
Student Support & Intervention
Design and implement schoolwide behavior systems grounded in research-based practices and aligned to Jefferson RISEs core valuesLead de-escalation and conflict-resolution efforts with consistency, empathy, and a commitment to restoring student relationshipsOversee re-entry processes and restorative conversations following behavioral incidents to ensure students are ready to return to learningMonitor and analyze behavior data to assess effectiveness of interventions and adjust supports accordinglyLeadership & Collaboration
Serve as the point person for schoolwide behavior management, coordinating closely with school leaders, teachers, and the student support teamFacilitate intervention planning meetings for students with ongoing behavioral needs and ensure action steps are implemented with fidelityCoach staff in implementing behavioral supports and help build capacity for maintaining a strong school cultureBuild and sustain strong relationships with families through proactive communication and shared problem-solvingSchool Culture & Environment
Facilitate a positive, inclusive school culture by reinforcing behavior expectations and leading with consistency, visibility, and careMaintain a strong presence during key transition times (arrival, lunch, dismissal, hallway transitions) to ensure student safety and engagementDesign and support implementation of recognition systems, celebrations, and culture-building routines that promote Respect, Responsibility, and SafetyModel professional, emotionally responsive behavior and coach others to do the sameSystems & Compliance
Ensure accurate documentation of behavioral incidents, interventions, and parent communication in school data systemsAnalyze trends in student behavior and collaborate with leadership to design targeted, proactive support structuresSupport compliance with school, state, and charter accountability requirements related to behavior and disciplineMaintain confidentiality and uphold legal and ethical standards in all behavior-related mattersCANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Certification :
Bachelors degree requiredExperience and Skills :
Proven track record of helping students develop behavioral skills that support classroom and school successDeep understanding of behavior management strategies, restorative practices, and positive behavior interventionsAbility to maintain composure and consistency in high-stress situationsStrong organizational and documentation skillsClear, direct communication skills with both students and adultsPrior experience working with youth in an educational or behavioral support setting preferredCulture and Fit :

RISE employees are paid twice a month on the 15th and last day of each month.
Jefferson RISE pays the following employee-only benefit costs for all full-time employees : coverage 85% of medical premiums and 100% of dental, vision, short and long term disability premiums. The Employee covers the remaining costs, including 15% employee medical and all spouse / dependent costs. RISE provides a 401(k) retirement plan to all W-2 employees, including a match of up to 100% of contributions on the first 3% deferred, then 50% of contributions from 3% to 5%. There is no vesting period. Jefferson RISE reserves the right to offer different or additional benefits to the Employee at any time.
