JOB DESCRIPTION :
The Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) professionally, compassionately and appropriately assists the nursing staff with medical tasks like taking blood, monitoring vitals with medical equipment and reporting changes in patient behavior and wellbeing. The CNA also performs many basic care tasks for patients such as grooming, dressing, bathing, eating and exercising.
JOB DUTIES :
Deliver great patient care with compassionate support, attention and assistance to patients and familiesAnswer patient calls and determine how best to help themObtain a wide range of information from practitioners, caregivers and nurses about patient condition, treatment plans and suggested activities including plan of careProvide physical support for patients with daily activities and personal hygiene including bathing, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing or exercisingTurning and repositioning bedridden patientsEnsuring patients receive appropriate diet by reviewing their dietary restrictions, food allergies and preferencesMeasure and record food and liquid intake and any urinary and fecal output; report changes to medical or nursing staffExamine patients to detect issues requiring medical care including open wounds, bruise or blood in urineMonitor patients throughout their treatmentPerform routine checks of patients' vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature and respiration rate as requested or scheduled by staffEnsure that patients take their medicationLiaise with patients' familiesEnsure compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHAMaintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA Privacy and Security RegulationsIn some settings :Assure patient chart completeness, records changes and Medicare reports with 98% accuracyOrder supplies based on department needsComplete reports in a timely and accurate mannerAssist with patient set-up and clean upAssist with maintaining orderliness of departmentPrepares necessary documentation and charting for patientsGreet patients and visitorsThe Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the Registered Nurse, Nursing Director and / or Practitioner.
JOB REQUIREMENTS :
Analytical ability to apply criteria and evaluate information to make decisionsStrong verbal and written communication skills; and excellent interpersonal skills in teaming with patients, medical staff and the publicUnderstanding of patient care, medical terminology, coding procedures, reference tools, and appropriate clinical pharmacology for medical assistant scopeKnowledgeable in policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient careKnowledgeable of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environmentKnowledgeable with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; familiar with electronic medical health care record systemsAbility to maintain quality control standardsAbility to react calmly and effectively in emergency situationsAbility to stand, walk, talk, hear, sit; reach with arms, hands and fingers to handle and feel; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; taste and smell as demonstrated by the Occupational Performance Capacity (OPC) test and / or pre-employment physical administered by CRMC at offerEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
Graduate of CNA program, requiredCurrent CNA certificate with the State of Kansas, requiredBLS, required1-2 years' experience in a healthcare setting, preferred2022
