The purpose of this position is to provide expert advice to facility staff to establish and maintain systems that are effective and efficient to operate the dietary department and provide food service to residents in a cost-effective, efficient manner to safely meet residents’ needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAJOR DUTIES :
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics or related field required. Registered as a Licensed Dietitian required. 1 year of experience as a Dietitian in a long term care setting preferred. Previous experience leading and managing a team of dietary professionals preferred.
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, COMPLIANCE CHECKS AND / OR CERTIFICATION Certification as an Activities Professional preferred. Successfully complete & / or comply with all required background checks to include but not limited to : Ohio BCI&I fingerprint analysis, FBI (if applicable) fingerprint analysis, Nurse Aide Registry, HHS / OIG list of Excluded Individuals / Entities (LEIE) & Ohio Medicaid Provider Exclusion and Suspension List. Dietitian as required in the state. Dependable transportation required.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR PATIENT CARE Provide services based on physician orders. Communicate physician, patient and family needs with the appropriate caregivers.
COMPUTER Intermediate personal computer skills including electronic mail, routine database activity and word processing.
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES Assist with the direction and management of the dietary team within assigned facility(s).
RESPONSIBILITY FOR CONFIDENTIAL MATTERS Works regularly with some information such as medical records or reports, financial reports, information on computer screens or other electronic devices, and records that are restricted to specific persons. Must comply with confidentiality policy.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS May be exposed to heat and cold in all weather conditions. Works regularly under desirable conditions with little or no disagreeable features. Distractions are frequent .

AGE GROUP AND ABUSE GUIDLINES Primarily engages with adults and the elderly. Knowledge of the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of adults and the elderly will be helpful. This includes being able to detect abuse with regard to state regulations. Follows policy for reporting abuse.
