We are seeking a visionary Sr. Director - Creative Strategy to lead creative for a portfolio of eight consumer brands in the fast-moving, highly competitive prepaid wireless market. Reporting directly to the Verizon Value VP of Marketing / CMO, you will be the creative thought leader, guiding top-tier external agencies while providing hands-on direction to a small internal team. Your mission is to raise the creative bar, accelerate speed and agility, and push creative boundaries to make our brands stand out.

Scope

Providing strategic direction to external agencies to deliver big, breakthrough campaigns

Delivering "fast-turn" creative through a dedicated rapid-response team

Building compelling social content for each brand

Guiding in-store design work for major retail partners like Walmart and Best Buy

You will lead work backed by a significant media budget, seen by millions of people, and displayed in tens of thousands of physical stores.

This is a newly created function, so you will build your team from the ground up, evaluating candidates for their design, art direction, and copywriting skills. This role demands a hands-on leader with deep roots in visual storytelling—someone who still thinks in layouts, color, and composition, not just decks. We need a creative builder who leads from the front and inspires teams through concept, craft, and a clear vision.

What You'll Be Doing :

Define Creative Vision : Set the creative vision and tone for each brand across all paid, earned, owned, and social channels

Drive Agency Strategy : Select the right external partners, manage their output, and evolve how we engage with external talent

Creative Direction : Direct multiple agencies and an internal team to deliver conceptually bold, on-brief, and business-driving creative

Build and Mentor : Build, mentor, and lead an internal rapid-creative team for quick-turn and reactive content

Champion Excellence : Ensure all creative work aligns with core brand strategy and campaign objectives, championing design excellence and conceptual consistency

Cross-Functional Leadership : Collaborate with Brand Marketing leads, Media, and Insights to ensure performance accountability

Executive Presence : Present creative ideas and campaigns to senior leadership, including at the President and SVP levels

What We're Looking For :

10+ years of creative leadership experience across brand, digital, and content

Experience working in both in-house (corporate) and agency environments is a must

A degree in design or art direction with a portfolio that demonstrates exceptional visual storytelling

Demonstrated experience using AI for design, concepting, or content generation

A track record of directing external agencies and internal teams toward strategically sound, creatively ambitious output

Experience leading major brand campaigns as well as fast-paced, quick-turn creative deliverables

Deep experience with social-first creative across platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube

Proven ability to manage a diverse brand portfolio and adapt creative strategies across multiple brand identities

A resourceful, "scrappy" mindset that drives great work even in ambiguous or fast-changing conditions

Experience building an internal creative team from the ground up

Even better if you have :

Experience working with challenger brands or value-focused portfolios

Experience in a highly competitive, dynamic industry

In Office Days : Ability to adhere to a hybrid schedule in office that includes assigned office days (3 days minimum Tues-Thurs)

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.

Depending on the role, employees have the opportunity to receive compensation in the form of premium pay such as overtime, shift differential, holiday pay, allowances, etc. Newly hired employees receive up to 15 days of vacation per year, which grows with additional service. For part-timers, your coverage will vary as you may be eligible for some of these benefits depending on your individual circumstances.

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is : $190,500.00 - $332,000.00.The annual salary range for the New York location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is : $190,500.00 - $332,000.00.
