Position Summary :
Reporting to the Director of Warehousing, the Sr. Warehousing & Distribution manager will have the responsibility of warehousing activities for Olde Thompson in New Jersey. This also entails management and operations integration of two warehouses, position will develop overall warehousing, staffing and asset planning strategies and ensure resources are developed and utilization is maximized.
Role Overview :
Warehouse & Inventory Management
- Oversee daily warehouse and distribution center operations including receiving, storage, replenishment, inventory control, and shipping.
- Develop and maintain accurate inventory systems to support planning, traceability, and forecasting.
- Optimize space utilization and implement slotting strategies to enhance warehouse efficiency.
- Lead efforts to reduce inventory shrinkage, minimize stockouts, and manage obsolete or slow-moving products.
Distribution & Logistics
Direct all distribution activities including transportation scheduling, carrier management, route optimization, and freight cost control.Ensure seamless coordination of outbound shipments with third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and internal teams.Monitor distribution performance against KPIs (on-time delivery, order accuracy, cost per shipment) and implement corrective actions as needed.Maintain strong relationships with transportation partners and evaluate performance to ensure compliance with service level agreements.Order Fulfillment Excellence
Lead Distribution Centers management of orders ensuring a seamless fulfillment processes from order release from Customer Operations through to successful delivery, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.Implement systems and procedures that enable fast, accurate picking, packing, and dispatching of customer orders.Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, and Planning to forecast demand and align fulfillment capabilities with business needs.Troubleshoot fulfillment issues and proactively resolve customer service concerns related to delivery timelines or accuracy.Leadership & Team Development
Lead and develop a high-performing team through coaching, training, and performance management.Establish clear performance goals and hold team members accountable to high standards of execution, safety, and service.Plan and manage workforce scheduling to align with business needs and seasonal volume fluctuations.Technology & Continuous Improvement
Champion the integration of new technologies, including WMS, TMS, and barcode / RFID systems, to streamline fulfillment and distribution processes.Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce order cycle time, improve fulfillment accuracy, and lower distribution costs.Utilize Lean and Six Sigma tools to identify and eliminate process waste.Compliance, Safety, and Risk Management
Ensure full compliance with all food safety (SQF, HACCP), quality, environmental, and OSHA standards.Oversee the maintenance of clean, safe, and secure facilities across all warehouse and distribution areas.Prepare for and lead audits related to inventory, safety, and distribution compliance.Cross-Functional Alignment
Serve as a liaison between warehouse / distribution and other departments such as Sales, Planning, Procurement, and Quality.Participate in S&OP processes and assist with supply chain planning to support customer demand.Support business continuity and contingency planning efforts for warehouse and fulfillment operations.Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree is required, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field are preferred.8–10+ years of progressive experience in warehouse and distribution management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.Demonstrated success managing warehouse facilities, teams and fulfillment processes.Demonstrated proficiency in ERP (SAP preferred), WMS, and distribution management systems.Experience with multi-product, multi-SKU environments in the food or consumer goods industries preferred.Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Knowledge of regulatory compliance (FDA, ISO, HACCP, DOT) and transportation safety standards.Bilingual English / Spanish preferred.The pay for this role in the state of NJ ranges from $96,000 - $160,000 and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location. Actual pay within this range may be determined based on candidate’s experience, qualifications and / or other determining factors.
