Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Billing Specialist to join our Billing Department. In this role, you will be responsible for performing billing operations and providing client account support to ensure accurate and timely financial transactions. Youll work closely with internal teams and clients to resolve billing inquiries and maintain financial accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Submit electronic and paper claims, including Medicaid and secondary claims.
- Post payments from commercial and personal accounts.
- Prepare and distribute monthly client statements.
- Provide customer service to patients regarding billing inquiries.
- Document all interactions on the customers account.
- Review credit balances and prepare refund requests in accordance with policy.
- Monitor and follow up on claims that remain unpaid after 45-60 days.
- Process accounts for collections in compliance with policy.
- Assist with charge entry as needed.
- Participate in assigned committees.
Skills and attributes
Strong attention to detail.Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.Ability to effectively engage / communicate with support staff, patients, and third-party payers.Comprehensive knowledge of the claims submission process and requirements for at least two major insurance carriers.Understanding of the complete revenue cycle (registration, charge entry, billing, and payment posting).Proficient in automated systems, including computers and spreadsheets / word processing software, as well as Electronic Medical Record (EMR).Education
A minimum of a high school diploma is required.An associates degree with a focus on business information is preferred, or equivalent work experience will be considered.Benefits
