ROLE SUMMARY
The Structural Engineering Intern role is designed to provide students with exposure to real-world structural design processes within a precast concrete manufacturing environment. Interns will shadow engineers and designers, assist with engineering tasks, and learn how projects move from design through production. This internship emphasizes learning and professional growth-giving students opportunities to observe, contribute, and apply classroom knowledge to practical engineering challenges.
LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Learn how engineering projects progress from quotation and award through manufacturing.
- Assist with updating design calculations and programming tools under guidance.
- Gain exposure to producing mix designs and performing simple design calculations.
- Shadow engineers to understand common precast repair procedures and workflows.
- Support the review of drawings and design submittals against contract plans.
- Learn how to create 3D models and designs using engineering software.
- Assist in preparing presentations on the design and fabrication process.
- Become familiar with ASTM and ACI design criteria, design loadings, and SCC mix design concepts.
- Participate in special projects or process improvement initiatives as assigned.

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, with a focus in structural engineering preferred.Strong interest in design, structural calculations, and applied engineering.Familiarity with Microsoft Office and CAD software; exposure to modeling tools preferred.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Initiative, enthusiasm, and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment.Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week during the internship.Preferred :
EIT certification or upper-division coursework in engineering design.Prior exposure to structural design or precast construction is a plus.CLOSING
