Position Summary :
Carolina Skiff, a leader in fiberglass boat manufacturing, is seeking a dynamic and experienced EHS Manager to lead the development, implementation, and oversight of all environmental, health, and safety programs across our facilities. The EHS Manager will play a critical role in fostering a culture of safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement, ensuring the well-being of our employees and the protection of our environment.
This individual will be responsible for maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.), developing internal policies and training programs, and serving as the primary point of contact for all EHS-related matters.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive EHS programs, policies, and procedures that meet or exceed regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, state environmental agencies, and other relevant regulatory bodies.
- Conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective / preventive actions to reduce injury and environmental risk.
- Maintain up-to-date records of injuries, near-misses, chemical usage, hazardous waste, and emissions reporting.
- Manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS), chemical inventory, and hazardous waste disposal procedures in compliance with RCRA and other standards.
- Coordinate and deliver safety training programs including new hire orientation, PPE usage, emergency response, fire safety, and confined space entry.
- Drive initiatives to promote a strong safety culture and employee engagement in EHS programs.
- Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, environmental consultants, and emergency responders.
- Monitor trends in EHS performance and develop action plans for continuous improvement.
- Participate in capital project planning to ensure EHS considerations are incorporated in facility changes or expansions.
- Lead environmental compliance efforts including air permits, VOC emissions monitoring, stormwater, SPCC plans, and reporting.
Qualifications :
Minimum of 5+ years of progressive EHS experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment; fiberglass or chemical handling industry experience is highly preferred.Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state / local regulatory requirements.Experience managing compliance in environments with chemical exposure, resin systems, VOCs, and dust control systems.Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.Certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager) are a plus.Physical Requirements :
Ability to walk and stand on the manufacturing floor for extended periods.Must be able to wear all required PPE including respirators and protective clothing.Able to respond to emergency situations or incidents as needed, occasionally outside of normal business hours.Why Carolina Skiff?
