Position Summary
TruPharma is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to lead operations at our 503A compounding pharmacy. The PIC is responsible for full operational, regulatory, and professional oversight of the pharmacy and serves as the individual legally accountable for all pharmacy activities.
This role ensures compliance with Florida Board of Pharmacy regulations, USP <795>, <797>, and <800>, and all applicable federal and state laws. The PIC must maintain continuous inspection readiness and be present for all regulatory inspections.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as Pharmacist in Charge in accordance with Florida Board of Pharmacy requirements
- Assume full legal and regulatory responsibility for pharmacy operations
- Develop, implement, maintain, and enforce pharmacy policies and procedures (SOPs)
- Oversee all non-sterile and sterile 503A compounding and dispensing
- Ensure ongoing compliance with USP <795>, <797>, and <800>
- Maintain compliance with Florida and applicable non-resident state pharmacy regulations
- Act as the primary point of contact for boards of pharmacy and regulatory agencies
- Be present for and lead all state, federal, and third-party inspections and audits
- Maintain continuous inspection readiness
- Oversee prescription processing, dispensing, and shipping to meet turnaround times
- Manage pharmacy workflow to ensure efficiency, compliance, and scalability
- Supervise pharmacist and technician staffing, training, and competency assessments
- Enforce hazardous drug handling, PPE use, environmental monitoring, and cleaning protocols
- Review and investigate incidents, deviations, complaints, and adverse events; implement corrective and preventive actions
- Ensure proper documentation, record retention, and traceability
- Ensure secure storage, handling, and accountability of medications and controlled substances
- Collaborate with quality, operations, and leadership teams to support growth and operational excellence
Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Florida pharmacist license
- Eligible and able to serve as Pharmacist in Charge in Florida
- Multi-state pharmacist licensure (preferred) or ability to obtain additional licenses
- Strong working knowledge of USP <795>, <797>, and <800>
- Direct experience in 503A compounding pharmacy operations
- Proven experience leading Florida Board of Pharmacy and regulatory inspections
- Demonstrated ability to develop and enforce SOPs
- Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills
- High level of attention to detail and regulatory accountability
