Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg Discipline : RN Start Date : 11 / 10 / 2025 Duration : 26 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking a Med / Surg RN with neuro focus for night shifts, requiring at least 2 years of experience and BLS / ACLS certification. Responsibilities Work in a Neuro-focused Medical Surgical unit within a hospital setting Primary patient diagnoses are general medicine with a focus on neurological cases Patient ratio is 1 : 6 on the unit Night shift schedule includes three 12-hour shifts per week, with either 36 or 48 hours accepted Required to work 5-6 weekend shifts, typically every other weekend Travelers are required to float first and may float within the hospital or to nearby affiliated hospitals based on skill set and census needs Uses Epic for charting and Pyxis for medication management; Epic experience required Manager determines scheduling; 24-hour unit orientation provided Navy blue scrubs are required attire Previous permanent, PRN, or EP staff at the health system must have a 12-month separation before working as a traveler Travelers may be assigned to Storm Team and / or Hurricane Team and could be required to report during disasters or catastrophic events Required to complete 8-10 hours of acute care modules pre-start and annually No more than 7 days of pre-approved time off allowed, not to be taken during orientation or holidays; must work 2 out of 3 major holidays Fatigue policy prohibits working more than 5 consecutive days or 60 hours in a week Travel pairs are allowed but must work in different units Reporting for catastrophic events may be required, and reassignment to centralized staffing office is possible First-time travelers are welcome to apply Requirements Active NC or Compact RN license required at start (license may be pending at submission) Minimum of 2 years recent Med / Surg RN experience required Current ACLS and BLS certifications required Ability to pass EKG testing prior to start Teamwork skills with focus on patient safety required EPIC charting system experience required Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-624058.
