We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Associate to join our SBIC Investments team. This role is located in New York City, NY.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways :

  • Support the management of BNY’s current investments in Small Business Investment Company (SBIC) Funds
  • Develop a pipeline of new investment opportunities in SBIC Funds and manage the full due diligence cycle; contribute to and enhance the due diligence process for SBIC investments
  • Review fund formation and investment documents, and negotiate side letters for newly approved investments
  • Assist with general oversight of the SBIC investment portfolio, including preparation of portfolio reviews and tracking of investment performance
  • Maintain and develop relationships with Fund Sponsors and banking peers; represent BNY at industry trade conferences and Limited Partner Advisory Board meetings
  • Stay current with the SBIC investment market and relevant regulations
  • Collaborate with employees to enhance the visibility of the SBIC Investments within BNY

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following :

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required; MBA and / or CFA preferred
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in alternative investments, risk management, financial analysis, investment consulting, operational due diligence or data analysis
  • Familiarity with lower middle market private equity and private credit strategies, with a willingness to broaden expertise
  • Strong analytical skills, including AI-driven data analysis, and financial modeling expertise
  • Knowledge of related regulations including (but not limited to) CRA, Volcker Rule; familiarity with SBIC program is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills with a proven track record of building and sustaining business / client relationships
  • High level of intellectual curiosity and attention to detail

    BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $58,000 and $110,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and company- sponsored benefit programs.

    This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department / team performance and market factors.
