About the Role
The Section 8 Compliance Coordinator is primarily responsible for preparing Section 8 certifications / re-certifications ensuring :
- existing and prospective residents qualify for occupancy
- subsidy recipients are occupying units appropriate to family size and composition
- subsidy recipients are paying rents appropriate to family composition and income
Additionally, the position will actively communicate with NYC and NYS governmental agencies and internal departments for proper and timely processing.

Meets with tenants to process annual and interim certifications and recertification'sSubmits files for third party verificationMaintain up to date tenant recertification files and purge files as requiredAddress resident complaints regarding rent and apartment repairsPrepare and send notices to residents regarding any account or compliance related issuesManage internal and external waiting listPartner with the Leasing and Account Receivable departments on legal, billing, arrears, and / or payments related issuesCoordinate annual and vacant apartment inspections with field managersInform the Director of Maintenance of any related building repairs and maintenance issuesInteract with HUD, HDP, HCR, or any other state or local housing agency governing Section 8 subsidy programsQualifications
At least 1 year of relevant experience in property managementHigh proficiency with Microsoft Office products / software particularly ExcelMust be proactive in resolving problems and able to diffuse conflict professionallyMust be highly organized, and able to manage multiple and competing deadlinesMust be able to effectively communicate in written and verbally in EnglishMust be able to fluently speak SpanishPreferred Skills
Associate’s degree or 2 years of collegeProficiency with NYS / NYC housing regulations and Section 8 affordable housing program (NYCHA)Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand and walk traversing the office as necessaryMust have good vision to read on computer screens, and identify details and errorsMust be able to sit at desk and use a computer, mouse and operate other office equipmentGood hand-eye coordination and fine motor skillsPay range and compensation package
$61,000 - $70,000 / year commensurate with experience.
