Job Title : Registered Nurse

License : Valid Colorado RN license or a valid multistate RN license through the Nurse Licensure Compact
Certifications : American Heart Association CPR / BLS certified; ACLS, PALS within 6 months of hire
Must-Have : Graduate from an accredited nursing program; 1-2 years previous experience in the Operating Room preferred
Job Description :
- Use the nursing process (A.P.I.E.) to meet the needs of patients of all ages, diagnoses, and patient classifications in all practice areas.
- Perform treatments and administer medications in a timely and safe manner.
- Maintain responsibility for preparation, interpretation, and evaluation of test data.
- Act appropriately in the Charge Nurse role and demonstrate knowledge and participation in education, discharge planning, and counseling of patients and significant others.
- Demonstrate commitment to professional growth and competency.
- Promote positive interpersonal relationships and maintain the confidentiality of all patient and hospital information.
- Provide care to patients in Pre-Op area, PACU Operating Room, and GI Lab in a professional and anticipatory manner.
- Perform all sterile activity utilizing aseptic technique and assist Anesthesia with intubation and extubation as needed.
- Take responsibility for all activities in the OR as the Patient Advocate.
- Ensure a proper Time Out is performed prior to incision per policies and procedures.
- Perform accurate and timely documentation of all intraoperative records and intra-op counts for sponges, instruments, and sharps.
- Care for specimens according to policies and procedures.
- Exemplify customer service, promote teamwork with open communication, and refrain from gossiping.
- Participate in committees as assigned and perform in accordance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulatory agency standards.
- Perform in accordance with the vision, mission, and goals of the organization.
- Participate in mandatory drug screening, background checks, and regulatory training.
- Maintain current vaccinations and provide documentation of immunity to specific diseases as required.
- Uphold all guidelines regarding safety training, certification verification, and compliance with health regulations.
