POSITION SUMMARY
The Social Media Coordinator will support Mt. Zion’s digital presence by capturing, creating, and publishing compelling social content across all platforms. This role is hands-on, fast-paced, and highly visual, focused on documenting ministry life in real time while helping bring campaigns and storytelling to life. The ideal candidate is creative, reliable, and tech-savvy, with a strong eye for content, basic strategy, and the ability to move quickly in a live church environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Capture photo and video content using phone, DSLR, or DJI for social media and digital platforms
- Film and edit short-form videos including reels, stories, YouTube shorts, and event highlights
- Follow senior leaders, pastors, and ministry teams to document moments, messages, and behind-the-scenes content
- Support same-day content turnaround for services, events, and special moments
- Assist with planning, scheduling, and publishing content across Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, TikTok, and other platforms
- Collaborate with the marketing and communications team on content ideas, campaigns, and promotions
- Contribute creative ideas and trend awareness to help keep content fresh and engaging
- Maintain and update the social media content calendar as assigned
- Support in-person events with live coverage including photo, video, and real-time posting
- Ensure content aligns with Mt. Zion’s brand, values, and communication goals
- Perform basic performance tracking and share insights with the team
- Maintain professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality when capturing or publishing content
- Stay current on platform features, trends, and best practices
- Availability to work Sundays, weekends, and non-traditional hours as ministry needs arise
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- 1–3 years of experience managing social media for a brand, ministry, nonprofit, or comparable organization
- Demonstrated success developing and executing multi-channel social media strategies
- Proficient in video filming and editing (smartphone video editing apps such as CapCut, InShot, iMovie, or similar are acceptable)
- Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to adapt voice for faith-based messaging
- Working knowledge of analytics tools (e.g., Meta Insights, YouTube Analytics, Sprout Social, Hootsuite, etc.)
- Experience with graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Express, or similar) is preferred
- Ability to multi-task, work independently, and thrive in a fast-paced, faith-driven environment
- Flexibility to cover evening, weekend, and holiday events as needed
- Collaborative, solutions-oriented, and highly organized
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related field preferred.
