Job description

Who we are : La Clínica de La Raza is a community-based health center committed to providing culturally appropriate, high-quality, and accessible health care to the diverse communities of the San Francisco Bay Area. We have spent over 40 years advocating for and creating a health home for the many that have been denied access to care. As health care activists, we are dedicated to making sure individuals who do not have health coverage get the same level of quality healthcare as those who have it. From our genesis as a community health center in 1971, we understood that we cannot heal our communities without also addressing the economic and social factors that affect health. Many times, this requires that we go outside and provide services in other settings to build the bridge that links individuals to our health center for preventive and primary care. Over 90,000 individuals come to La Clínica because it is a welcoming place that addresses the whole person, coordinating and connecting them to a broad network of services to improve and maintain their health and well-being. While we are still known for our activism and spirit of social justice, we are also proud to have grown into a sophisticated provider of primary health care services with 35 sites across Alameda, Contra Costa and Solano counties.

Be part of an excellent care team :

Job Description :

As the Ob / Gyn Lead Physician, you will provide clinical oversight for full scope outpatient obstetrical and gynecological care to La Clinica Great Beginnings patients in Solano County.

Your responsibilities will include providing prenatal and post-partum and gynecological medical care. This role involves consultation with nurse practitioners, certified nurse midwives and physician assistants on the assessment, management and treatment of complicated cases, initiating referrals to specialists as medically indicated, chart review, co-signing, and case conferences. You will lead the OB high-risk meeting and maintain the High-Risk Surveillance Protocols for the clinic. You will maintain the Clinical Practice Guidelines for the clinic, coordinating with La Clinica OB sites as a whole for guideline development.

You will be expected to participate in practice improvements in areas such as in-clinic flow, patient scheduling and service delivery, and collaborate professionally with interdisciplinary team members, including providers, health educators, medical assistants, registered nurses, and case managers. You will act as a liaison between the clinic and the OB group managing the L&D services for our patients.

The role is suited to a physician with at least 1-2 years of work experience in an outpatient clinic setting, with previous experience / training in providing comprehensive OB / Gyn care, including abnormal pap management (including colposcopy and LEEP), full scope contraception, and NST interpretation / basic OB sonography. Additionally, the individual in this position will deliver care to a culturally diverse patient population. This role requires flexibility in meeting patients’ needs. Overall success in this position will require a high degree of interpersonal competence with both staff and patients, and thorough knowledge of evidence-based approaches to medical care.
