Senior Manager of Financial Reporting & Accounting

$140,000 - $150,000 + 10% bonus
The Senior Manager will support the CFO and Controller in managing the Company's corporate (day to day) accounting and various financial reporting projects, some financial planning and analysis, and ad-hoc financial operations and light treasury.
Given the well-established corporate culture, the operational pace, a small team and the nature and variety of the issues and business challenges that arise, the Senior Manager needs to be highly adaptable and flexible. Specifically, the Senior Manager must be able to manage day-to-day operations with attention to detail, think strategically to solve complex problems, and possess deep expertise in relevant subject areas. In other words, the role requires someone who can switch between handling practical tasks, developing big-picture solutions, and providing expert advice as needed.
Specific areas of focus will include (1) accounting for complex and technical items such as investments, paid claims, loss reserves, reinsurance recoverable, and expense accruals, (2) forecasting and budgeting, (3) managing banking relationships and cash management.
Role Scope :
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Responsible for recording investment entries in the general ledger, reconciling investment accounts to custodian investment reports, and preparing reporting for investment portfolio.
- Maintain schedule of insurance claims and record reserve activity based on quarterly reporting from third-party actuary. Manage and maintain the reporting related to claims paid and amounts recovered from reinsurance partners.
- Track and adjust expense accruals and key liability accounts.
- Analyze and maintain GL accounts for completeness and accuracy and manage chart of accounts. Additionally, perform quarterly accounting backup and roll forward GL for new period.
- Prepare quarterly financial statements for Controller's review.
- Serve as primary contact with auditors during fieldwork.
- Prepare and review schedules requested by auditors.
- Ensure all audit requests are properly prepared and uploaded to auditor website.
- Review subsidiary company transactions processed by senior staff accountants.
- Review accounts receivable and payable for all companies.
- Review Members Net Worth reports prepared by senior accountant for annual submission to auditor.
- Review dividend cash payments and tax adjustments for completeness and accuracy.
Financial Planning & Analysis
Lead the budget preparation and periodic forecasting for CFO and senior management review.Liaise with internal and external stakeholders for budget and forecast information.Conduct variance analysis and financial research to generate insights on business trendsLead recurring financial benchmarking and provide recommendations on how to address variances from peer group.Assist CFO with special projects requiring quantitative analysis (e.g., financial modeling, NPV analysis, sensitivity analysis, etc.)Develop KPI reporting process for CFO and senior management review.Financial Operations & Treasury
Manage banking relationships and treasury related workstreams including borrowing and repaying line of credit borrowings. Manage pledging of collateral for outstanding borrowings.Arranging, on an as-needed basis, for temporary funding of large claims payments.Forecast cashflows and manage cash levels to balance liquidity with maximizing return on capital.Qualifications :
