  • Bailey & Golden, Colorado Department : Outdoor Programs & Property Occupational Job Group : Camp / Property-Specialists, CP1 Reports To : Operational Director FLSA Status : Non-Exempt Pay Range : $19.29-21.15 / hour Terms : Full-Time Supervisory Responsibility : none _________________________________________________________________________________________ GENERAL PURPOSE : The Operations Assistant is responsible for the facility and hospitality at Twisted Pine and responsible for assisting with the general operations, including maintenance, program, and hospitality at Tomahawk Ranch.
  • This position may be responsible for working beside and acting in lieu of the Operational Director, as directed.
  • A primary function of this, and every other job at Tomahawk Ranch and Twisted Pine, is to ensure that each member, guest, and visitor receives the highest caliber of service.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Camp Facility Responsibilities o Oversees & assists in the care for and maintenance of camp facilities, grounds including roads & fences, property & program equipment, and machinery are in safe, well-functioning, working, and clean condition. o To help reduce the level of risk, ensures that all safety-related projects / needs are completed in a swift and timely manner and helps prepare facilities for changing weather conditions. o .
  • Oversees & assists with property security practices & procedures.
  • Alert supervisor to potentially hazardous conditions or situations. o Responsible for performing various skilled trade tasks for facility maintenance and construction projects. o Responsible for the implementation of the property strategic plan at Twisted Pine and help assist with the implementation of the property strategic plan at Tomahawk Ranch.
  • Provide Exemplary Customer Service o Provide a hospitality service on behalf of the camp property & program at Twisted Pine & assist with services at Tomahawk Ranch. o Assists with the communication of reservations and request forms. o Ensure facility / venue meets guests’ expectations and needs, by assisting clients / users with their experience, events, and / or services provided. o As directed, work as the site representative for on-site persons, site users, community events, GSCO events, volunteer groups, and rental group usage and events. § Serve as a liaison between the camp and hosted events, site users, GSCO staff, visitors, culinary services on the property. o As directed, provide site visitations. o Review feedback from site users regarding customer support and facility usage, implement necessary feedback.
  • Housekeeping Support o Ensure the completion of cleanliness check logs of all camp areas. § Provide feedback of repairs / cleanliness / disposal as necessary. o Provide housekeeping services as necessary. o Assist with maintaining camp facilities in clean and ready to use condition. o Ensure GSCO Cleaning & Disinfecting Protocols for OP & Properties are utilized at all times. o Creates and follows all cleaning schedules of camp areas.
  • Management Responsibilities (as applicable) o Participate in supervisory conferences and in the staff evaluation process. o Participate in pre-camp and in-service trainings, attend staff meetings, and contribute to the planning and coordinating of the work of the total staff team. o As directed, assist with the recruitment, training, and supervision of on-call staff. o Conduct staff meetings, expectation setting, and coaching conversations as needed.
  • Purchasing & Service Responsibilities o As directed, assist with purchasing for all business operations, while keeping accurate expense records to ensure requests are within budget limitations. o Act as a liaison and provide support for all vendor / contracted services.
  • Cross-Departmental Work o Supports care of livestock, providing feeding, and daily chores. o Assists with the delivery of equipment, machinery, luggage, and various materials when needed. o Participate in rehearsals of emergency procedures and deliver emergency support during potential incidents. o In coordination with the camp team, facilitate camper program delivery, check-in & check-out procedures, orientation, and other operational logistics. o Assist with the management of site and program equipment, including storage, care, inventory, and maintenance. o Provide support for all check-ins and check-outs. o Provide additional program, operational, leadership, hospitality, and maintenance / facility support, as directed. o Provide and / or support health, safety and wellness practices.
  • Administration o As directed, stay current in knowledge of youth development and outdoor recreation industry trends and compliance in relation to the American Camping Association Standards, Girl Scouts Safety Activity Checkpoints, Colorado Department of Health and Human Services, and other certifying industry organizations. o Manage administrative responsibilities in a timely, independent, and detail-oriented manner.
  • Meet program planning and administration deadlines, respond to emails and phone calls quickly, manage tasks independently and communicate additional support needed. o Respect the confidential nature of all information pertaining to staff, volunteers, and campers. o Interact with Girl Scout digital systems including Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Formstack, Checkfront, Asana, Google Drive, Social Media tools and others.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education and / or Formal Training

  • Four-year degree in hospitality, outdoor recreation, business management, related field or equivalent training and experience.
  • Must have current, or ability to obtain within the first 90 days of hire, the following certifications :
  • FA / CPR / AED, Child Abuse Mandated Reporter, Universal Standard Precautions.
  • Experience
  • Proven experience in general maintenance and maintaining property grounds.
  • Proven experience of providing exemplary customer service & hospitality.
  • Proven experience of hospitalityor housekeeping management experience.
  • Proven experience of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience scheduling and organizing.
  • Preferred experience working in an outdoor program / camp and / or similar setting.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 1) Innovative and Dynamic
  • Ability to be flexible, think quickly and modify programs in ever changing situations.
  • Ability to communicate program goals, design, and responsibilities to lead a staff team.
  • Familiarity with risk management in an outdoor setting.
  • Ability to respond appropriately and direct others in outdoor emergency situations. 2) Facility & Property Support
  • Ability to manage, maintain, assess, and operate site equipment & power tools.
  • Ability to drive large passenger vehicles and / or cargo vans.
  • Preferred experience in driving side by side and / or golf carts.
  • Preferred experience in towing and driving a ¾ ton truck.
  • Preferred experience in operation of a tractor or skid steer. 3) High Level of Interpersonal and Professional Skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to be a people organizer and leader.
  • Represent Girl Scouts of Colorado in a professional manner to staff, members, and the community.
  • Ability to work closely with members of the camp team & Outdoor Program & Property teams in all aspects of work plans, schedules, staff management and program implementation.

  • Ability to work at a camp property non-traditional office location.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, both administrative and programmatic.
  • Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check acceptable to GSCO standards.
  • Must be at least 25 years of age, with 5 years of driving experience.
  • Access to registered transportation with insurance at required state levels to conduct business statewide.
  • Valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to the Girl Scout insurance company standards.
  • MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED
  • This position works with site equipment, power tools, large and small machinery.
  • This position works with tractors, skid steers, trucks, vans, and towing trailers.
  • This position works with commercial kitchen & housekeeping equipment.
  • Subject to injuries from falls, accidental strikes, cuts from equipment, etc.
  • This position may work with farm equipment and in an outdoor setting that includes domestic farm animals such as donkeys, horses, pigs, rabbits, chickens, goats, etc.
  • Computer and related software, telephone, e-mail, fax machines, copiers and equipment commonly found in an office environment.  WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
  • Ability to work non – traditional hours including evenings, weekends, extended overnight periods on site at programs and extended hours during peak program season (May – September).
  • This role will primarily work Tuesday-Saturday.
  • Ability to be on-call when necessary for site coverage, program implementation, staffing and emergency purposes.
  • Requires extensive walking over uneven and unpaved terrain.
  • Exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and / or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and / or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
