Advanced Emergency Medical Technician

Job Summary

Join our dynamic team as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT), where you will provide timely and efficient pre-hospital advanced and basic life support care for the sick and injured. Your role is crucial in ensuring that patients receive the best care possible, adhering to local, state, national, and Acadian Ambulance standards.

Equipment

As an AEMT, you will work with a range of equipment, including ambulances, stretchers, spinal immobilization gear, intravenous therapy tools, and advanced airway management devices. You will receive ongoing training on new medical equipment and practices to enhance your skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough examinations to identify signs and symptoms of illnesses and injuries.
• Administer prompt basic and advanced life support care within your licensure limits.
• Ensure safe and efficient patient transport to medical facilities.
• Document all aspects of patient care on EMS run reports accurately.
• Maintain and regularly inventory ambulance equipment, ensuring everything is in working order.
• Perform routine cleaning and upkeep of the ambulance and all equipment.
• Drive the ambulance safely, adhering to company driving guidelines.
• Attend mandatory meetings and training sessions.
• Assist in the orientation and training of new EMTs and students.
• Complete any other duties as assigned to support team operations.

Physical Requirements

As an AEMT, the role requires the ability to perform strenuous physical tasks such as lifting heavy equipment and patients, as well as responding quickly to emergencies in challenging environments. Candidates must also demonstrate adequate vision and hearing necessary for safe operation of emergency vehicles and effective patient care.
