Responsibilities
- Terminate, splice, and install a variety of fiber optic connectors and enclosures including both loose tube fiber and ribbon fiber
- Proficient in fiber color codes, in using fiber tools and fiber optic test equipment including fusion splicer, power meter, and OTDR
- Climb and use ladders on poles for accessing aerial fiber plant
- Perform aerial construction activities such as installing aerial fiber and fiber storage (snow shoes)
- Perform underground construction activities, including but not limited to pulling new cable / fiber through short conduits, opening underground vaults or pedestals, making minor repairs if required
- Complete production reports
- Dig holes, work with hand tools, restore landscaping
- Lay fiber innerduct and pull fiber through existing ducts
- Operate heavy equipment and excavation truck
- Operate pipe and cable locators and mark underground utilities
- Measure and record installed quantities of fiber
- Assist on overall job including all tasks required to build and install a site per customer specifications
- Maintain clean, orderly environment adhering to company policies and industry regulations / standards (OSHA)

Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent1 year of fiber installation experience with ability to take direction and learn from experienceOTDR experience preferredValid driver's license and a clean driving record to operate a company vehicleKnowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesAbility to troubleshoot damaged fiber, effectively and efficientlyAbility to read, understand, and update splice documentation and maps as requiredKnowledge of applicable electronic equipment and specialty toolsKnowledge of basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat ProAbility to read blueprintsAbility to work independently as well as in a teamAbility to analyze and solve problemsAbility to use and take care of hand tools and mechanical equipmentAbility and interest in performing work in the fieldDemonstrated willingness to learnPhysical ability to lift 75+ lbs. and be comfortable working in an outdoor environment in all types of weatherAbility to maintain an effective working relationship with other employees and the general publicAbility to travel for extended periods of time (travel required is 50% to include overnight)Ability to be covered by company auto insurance planPhysical Demands

Work Environment
Primarily outdoor construction work. 95% travel support; up to 25% night / weekend work. Some work may occur in climate-controlled office environments.
