Job descriptionProvide expertise for all levels of leadership regarding environmental, safety, health issues and applicable regulations Be an active figure in shifting our safety culture from rules and regulatory compliance to a safety culture developed as a behavior driven value at all levels of the organization Provide oversight expertise for incident investigations, development of corrective action plans and follow-up actions to prevent recurrence Work to develop and standardize work processes, standards, and equipment Influence leadership decisions to positively impact the outcome of safety and business Communicate frequently and consistently with operational leadership, and Safety Director on areas of concern and performance metrics Work closely with regional leadership to develop programs and plans as required Assist individual locations with completion of goals and objectives as well as training verification Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions in regional offices and on job sites Report on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics Responsible for writing and updating site-specific safety plans Other duties as assigned Ability to live the ICOMPEL Values Ability to communicate objectives across all levels of the organization Create and conduct internal and external training presentations Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred Interpersonal skills to gain respect and trust of field employees and foremen Basic Excel skills to compile data, analyze trends, and present findings Proven experience as a safety professional Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines (federal and state) Ability to produce detailed reports and develop relevant policies Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment Excellent independent organizational and self-motivational skills Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability Accountability – Degree to which one is answerable and responsible for actions and performance. Communication – The ability to effectively converse and listen to others concerning company matters. The use of proper written and grammatical skills, and the meaningful application of computer technology [e-mail, Internet, etc.]. Decision Making / Judgment – The ability to make prudent decisions that are timely, well researched, and reflect awareness of impact. Initiative – The ability to perform job responsibilities independently and responsibly. The ability to proactively complete tasks, solve problems, improve processes, enhance products, and / or extend services within assigned range of authority. Job Knowledge - The depth and breadth of know-how to perform essential duties and functions of the job. The level of compliance with degree, certification, and training requirements. Understanding of how individual job performance furthers organizational objectives. Willingness to update and expand skills, knowledge, and training. Teamwork - The ability to promote positive work relationships with area staff, team members, and supervisors. The degree of problem solving, communication, listening, cooperation, and productivity demonstrated while working with others to successfully meet goals. Training Performance - The ability to use effective teaching methods in training personnel in respective job responsibilities, technical skills, company operations, applicable regulations, department procedures, and all assigned programs. Bachelor's Degree in Safety Management or related field and 2 years of experience in Environmental, Health and Safety ~OR~ Associates Degree in Safety Management or related field and 4 years of experience in Environmental, Health and Safety ~OR~ High School Diploma and 5 years of experience in Environmental, Health and Safety Must have and maintain a clean driving record Nationally recognized Environmental Certification(s) a Plus Climb, crawl, and walk while carrying or operating machinery and tools upstairs, downstairs, and over potentially uneven surfaces. Lift, pull, push, and carry 80 lbs. of weight intermittently. Ability to identify safety hazards and communicate effectively with others. Sustain the stamina to perform manual labor outdoors, exposed to the elements, vibrations, loud noises, offensive smells, dust, dirt, and water in all seasons, including extreme temperatures. Safely perform work with appropriate safety gear. Distinguish between different colors. Bend, squat, twist, and reach in various positions as the situation dictates. Approximately 80% travel to various work locations in multiple states. 4 out of 5 days per week will be spent traveling to / completing site visits.

The Safety Specialist’s primary responsibility will be to promote and manage a safe working environment for all company team members. This role will ensure the workplace meets al legal expectations and actively supports occupational health and safety needs.
