Job Summary

Bolt Medical is seeking a highly experienced and proactive Senior EH&S Specialist to lead environmental, health, and safety initiatives across our manufacturing and R&D operations. This role is critical to ensuring regulatory compliance, mitigating workplace risks, and fostering a culture of safety, sustainability, and ongoing improvement. You’ll collaborate across departments to integrate EH&S into daily operations and long-term strategic planning, championing continuous improvement in our processes, policies, and training. Responsibilities

  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining EH&S policies and procedures to comply with relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Conducting risk assessments, site inspections, and performance analyses to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Leading incident investigations and root cause analyses, ensuring timely resolution and documentation.
  • Delivering training programs on hazardous materials handling, emergency response, industrial hygiene, laser safety, and general workplace safety.
  • Evaluating work-related injuries and incidents in accordance with applicable laws and internal protocols.
  • Managing hazardous waste and chemical handling processes to ensure safe and compliant operations.
  • Collaborating with engineering, facilities, and operations teams to integrate EH&S into process improvements.
  • Mitigate ergonomic risks in both manufacturing and office environments through proactive workstation design, regular assessments, training, and implementation of best practices to reduce musculoskeletal injuries and promote employee well-being.
  • Improve and maintain a robust laser safety program by developing site-specific protocols, conducting risk assessments for laser operations, and providing comprehensive training on laser hazards, safe work practices, and personal protective equipment usage.
  • Serving as a liaison with external agencies (e.g., fire, police, HAZMAT) to support emergency preparedness and response planning.
  • Supporting new employee orientation and ongoing safety education initiatives.
  • Coordinating Emergency Response Team activities and ensuring site-wide readiness.
  • Chair or serve on EH&S-related committees, task forces and / or cross-functional teams.
  • Serve as EH&S representative in cross-functional projects for new process / chemical introduction, capacity expansion, facility changes, new equipment introduction, etc.
  • Maintain and report site EH&S metrics, statistics and records to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and fulfill corporate reporting needs.
  • Act as the facilities’ Hazardous Materials / Waste Coordinator to include the disposition of hazardous, non-regulated, and biomedical waste streams, including maintaining professional contacts with approved waste vendors.
  • Provide regulatory guidance and recommendations for equipment specifications / installations, and facilities modifications.
  • Conduct internal and external EH&S compliance audits, self-assessments, and inspections throughout the facilities.
  • Works with Supervisors, Trainers and Technicians to identify and control significant environmental health and safety impacts of operations.

Performance Expectations :

  • Maintain full compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate leadership in promoting a safety-first culture and driving measurable improvements in EH&S metrics.
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting to management and regulatory bodies.
  • Influence and coach managers and employees to adopt safe work practices and continuous improvement strategies.
  • Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental and Occupational Health, Occupational Safety, Safety Engineering, Safety Management – equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • 5–7 years of progressive EH&S experience, preferably in medical device, biotech, or advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of injury / incident prevention programs (ergonomic, risk assessments, root cause analysis).
  • Ability to work with cross-functional groups and manage EH&S programs that impact the entire site.
  • Ability to compile and lead training exercises for groups of employees.
