Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU / Oncology position requiring oncology and Stepdown / PCU experience with the ability to float to advanced care units.

Responsibilities

  • Position is based on a 35-bed medical and radiation oncology unit with mixed acuity including Med / Surg and advanced care patients
  • Oncology and hematology patient population with frequent administration of blood products and chemotherapy
  • Patient ratios typically 1 : 4, but may be up to 1 : 5-6
  • Night shifts (3x12 hours, 19 : 00 to 07 : 30)
  • Must be able to float to all Stepdown / Advanced Care units and may be required to float between campuses within a 15-mile radius
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • No block scheduling available
  • Will provide nursing care to oncology, hematology, and advanced care patients, administering blood products, chemotherapy, and managing wounds and PCAs
  • Floating will occur as directed, with travelers first to float and may include supporting high-risk respiratory or COVID units
  • RNs administer chemotherapy if ONS certified
  • Every other weekend and holiday shifts are required
  • Scrub color is navy blue
  • No RTO (requested time off) will be approved after offer; all requests must be submitted with initial application

    • Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 1.5 years of Stepdown or PCU experience; ICU experience does not count
  • Documented experience managing a 1 : 5 nurse-to-patient ratio in work history
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Must be able to pass an online EKG telemetry competency assessment
  • Ability to read and interpret cardiac monitor strips
  • Oncology nursing experience required; sickle cell experience and chemotherapy certification preferred but not required
  • Experience using EPIC EMR required
  • Must be fitted for N95 or PAPR prior to working in high-risk respiratory units
  • Travel experience and Level 1 or 2 trauma experience preferred
  • Local candidates within a 50-mile radius are not eligible
