Job Responsibilities :

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, this position will assist in planning, directing, organizing, and coordinating the psychiatric nursing program. Typical job functions include :

Advising medical staff, department heads and administration in matters related to nursing service.

Assists in establishing the goals and objectives of the nursing department and coordinating the activities of the nursing department with other hospital activities.

Assists in establishing and monitoring QA nursing department standards, policies and procedures for acute and long-term psychiatric nursing units.

Handling scheduling, staffing, auditing timesheets, and assisting in personnel matters, including but not limited to disciplinary actions.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Compensation :

85,000 annually ($40.86 hr.)

Primary working hours : M-F, 8 am to 5pm.

  • Education and Experience Requirements :  Validpermanent Oklahoma license as a registered nurse as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing and four (4) years of professional nursing experience, two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity;
  • OR a bachelor’s degree in nursing and three (3) years of professional nursing experience, two (2) year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity;

OR a master’s degree and two (2) years of professional nursing experience in a supervisory capacity.

About us :  Jim Taliaferro Community Mental Health Center in Lawton, OK is a community-based center with a primary focus on mental health and substance abuse treatment. The inpatient and outpatient services they provide include special groups and programs for adolescents, persons with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders, seniors and older adults, women, men, and criminal justice groups.

Special Requirements : Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill all job-related travel normally associated with this position. Upon a conditional offer of employment, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services applicants must submit to a physical examination and shall meet the physical examination requirements of occasionally lifting / carrying  50  pounds and able to push and pull a maximum force of  25  pounds.

Drug and Alcohol Pre-employment and Pre-placement Testing : Upon a conditional offer of employment, applicants for safety sensitive positions shall be required to submit to urinalysis to test for drugs. Appointment to a safety sensitive position shall be contingent upon a negative drug test result.

THIS AGENCY REQUIRES COVERAGE 24 HOURS, 7 DAYS PER WEEK. WORK HOURS AND LOCATION MAY VARY DEPENDING ON BUSINESS NECESSITY. EMPLOYEES MAY BE REQUIRED TO WORK WEEKENDS AND OVERTIME.
