Our client is currently seeking a EHS Specialist for their Manufacturing facility near Portland OR. This position offers a flexible schedule. The Specialist can work days, afternoons or early evenings for greater exposure to both the day & night shifts. This is a hands on position that will spend a majority of time on the production floor and is more focused on safety policies / procedures vs environmental compliance. The EHS Specialist will report to an offsite Corporate EHS Manager. The Specialist will implement, and maintain comprehensive safety and environmental policies, procedures, and programs, including written plans, recordkeeping, reporting, monitoring, inspections, testing, and training activities.

This job will have the following responsibilities :
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations by monitoring regulatory changes, interpreting requirements, and updating policies and processes accordingly.
- Facilitate EHS training for employees at all levels, ensuring understanding and adherence to relevant safety and environmental regulations.
- Conduct and document regular EHS audits and inspections to verify compliance with permits, regulatory standards, and internal requirements.
- Coordinate and manage visits from regulatory agencies and prepare required annual reports for air, water, waste, Tier II, Form R, and other applicable programs.
- Lead and advise the site safety committee, conducting inspections and identifying corrective and preventative actions to mitigate existing or potential hazards.
- Manage workers compensation cases and oversee accident prevention, cost reduction, behavioral safety audits, and risk assessment programs.
- Develop and oversee proper procedures for handling, labeling, storing, and disposing of hazardous materials in compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by evaluating existing EHS programs, identifying opportunities for enhancement, and collaborating with site leadership on long-term strategic plans.
- Analyze safety trends, equipment design, manufacturing processes, and chemical exposures to develop strategies that eliminate or reduce potential hazards.
Qualifications & Requirements :
Bachelors DegreeRelevant Certifications Preferred - Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) Associate or Certified Safety Professional (ASP / CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)3+ years of experience in an EHS role within Manufacturing.Good Technical Proficiency within areas such as Tier II reporting, SPCC, air regulations, stormwater management, spill planning, hazardous / special wastes, universal waste, machine guarding, LOTO, risk assessments, and root cause analysis.#JDP
