Waymo's vehicles drive themselves, but our eMobility Project Lead will be the driving force behind our charging infrastructure strategy. In this high-impact role, you will lead the team responsible for the rapid, high-volume deployment of temporary charging infrastructure. You will establish a scaled, repeatable process for the entire deployment lifecycle, including site selection, due diligence, and construction delivery.
This position requires a strategic thinker with a bias for action and reports to the Director of Workplace & eMobility. The position is based in the Bay Area and demands a high degree of travel to oversee active projects.
You will :
- Define and lead the comprehensive eMobility strategy, including targets for fleet electrification, charging network expansion, and integration of sustainable energy solutions.
- Oversee the planning, design, procurement, and deployment of EV charging stations (Rapid Deployment projects) for internal fleets, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
- Act as the primary liaison with utility companies, government agencies, equipment vendors, and internal departments (e.g., Facilities, IT, Finance) to secure funding, manage incentives, and ensure project alignment.
- Develop and manage budgets for all eMobility initiatives, including capital expenditures for infrastructure, operational expenses, and maximizing ROI through incentive programs and energy cost management.
- Monitor and interpret relevant eMobility policies, regulations, and industry trends (e.g., battery technology, vehicle-to-grid, renewable energy integration) to ensure strategic direction and maintain competitive advantage.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for eMobility programs, analyze vehicle and charging data, and prepare regular reports on performance, utilization, and environmental impact for executive review.
You have :
BA / BS degree in related field such as Project Management, Energy Management, or EngineeringMinimum of 5 years of professional experience in electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure deployment, smart grid technologies, or related energy / transportation projects, with at least 2 years in a management or leadership role.Proven track record of successfully managing complex, multi-site charging station installation projects from inception through commissioning, including navigating utility interconnection processes and securing permits.Demonstrable expertise in developing and managing capital budgets and a deep understanding of relevant federal, state, and local eMobility incentives, grants, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., tax credits)We prefer :
Certification or Industry Designation in Project, Engineering or Facilities ServicesExperience in mixed use environments - office, industrial, labs or manufacturingDemonstrable PM skills; able to advance projects with undefined scope, influence and align stakeholdersTravel Requirement : 35% Travel
The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
