Job Summary and Qualifications
This position is responsible for assuring the Quality activities of the Medical Staff are in accordance with regulatory, corporate policy, and other Medical Staff requirements. This includes but is not limited to the Focused and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation process and the Professional Practice Evaluation Process (peer review). These processes are inclusive of all credentialed providers, both physicians and advanced practice practitioners. In collaboration with Medical Staff Department Chairs and the Medical Staff Credentialing Department, ensures clinical and professional competency at the time of initial appointment, additional privileges, re-credentialing or when clinical concerns are identified. Collaborates with the Director of Professional Practice Evaluation (PPE Director) to facilitate the on-going professional practice evaluation process. Generates reports, analyzes data for variance, performs clinical reviews of threshold variances and formulates plan of action if indicated, with the PPE Director. Directly facilitates the Professional Practice Evaluation peer review process including initial review of reported concerns or cases triggered for review by established mechanisms. Independently facilities designated Clinical Specialty Review Committees, educates, supports, and advises Committee Chairs and Committee members. Fosters a culture of learning that results in professional performance improvement. This position requires a high degree of critical thinking, clinical knowledge, professionalism and confidentiality as well as the ability to communicate effectively with physicians and other advanced practice professionals.
Complies with the Memorial Health Compliance Program, related policies and procedures and the Code of Business Practices; reports instances of perceived and actual non-compliance to Team Leader or through other reporting mechanisms.
