Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level I Trauma Emergency Department position requiring a compact or NE RN license and night shift availability.
Responsibilities
Work in a Level I Trauma Center Emergency Department in an acute care hospital setting20 ED beds, 5 trauma bays, 10 observation beds, 6 Fast Track beds, and 3 triage bedsPatient population includes trauma, sepsis, chest pain, respiratory distress, and stroke casesNurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 4 in zones, 1 : 6 in Fast Track, 1 : 5 in observation, 1 : 1 in ICU / Trauma12-hour night shifts with scheduling determined by leadershipRequired to float to the observation unit and a freestanding emergency room at least once per weekUses Epic EMR, with competency in charting requiredOne week of onboarding includes orientation shifts at multiple locationsSecurity is present in-house 24 / 7 within the ERResponsibilities include care of high-acuity emergency and trauma patients, reading and interpreting cardiac monitor strips, and working collaboratively with ED physicians, mid-levels, charge nurses, and support staffNurse aids, EMTs, paramedics, and patient sitters provide additional team support on each shiftHoliday and weekend work will be scheduled based on department needsInitial orientation includes both skills training and unit-specific onboarding at multiple emergency care locationsAll required documentation and references must be provided prior to considerationFast-paced, high-acuity environment with frequent exposure to trauma and complex medical emergenciesRequirements
Active NE or Compact RN license requiredMinimum of 2 years recent ED nursing experienceRequired certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)Must provide a driver's license for radius complianceMust live at least 50 miles from the facilityCannot have full time, part time, or PRN employment with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past yearMust pass a skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientationPhysical demands require compliance with fingernail policy (artificial nails prohibited)Two references required : one supervisor from the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 yearsBenefits
