Director of Sales
The Director of Sales is responsible for leading the sales strategy, driving revenue growth, expanding market share, and ensuring the overall effectiveness of the Sales Department. This position provides strategic direction, coaching, and operational support to the sales team while fostering a culture of high performance and exceptional guest service. The Director of Sales collaborates closely with Revenue Management, Marketing, and Operations to align sales efforts with organizational goals and market conditions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Revenue Growth & Market Expansion
Drive revenue generation and market share growth in alignment with agreed-upon KPIs and organizational goals.
Develop and execute strategic sales initiatives to expand penetration within existing and new markets.
Ensure pricing strategies and revenue plans remain competitive and aligned with market trends through ongoing collaboration with Revenue Management.
Leadership & Team Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Sales Managers and Sales Coordinators (currently 4 Managers and 4 Coordinators), fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Provide coaching, performance evaluations, and individualized development plans to support team members' growth.
Budget & Planning
Effectively manage the annual sales budget, ensuring resources are used efficiently and strategically.
Develop, review, and implement quarterly sales plans and the annual marketing strategy. Ensure timely execution and compliance with established objectives.
Guest Service & Brand Alignment
Support and uphold "The 4 Keys to Creating Guests for Life" and all service enhancement initiatives championed by the resort.
Ensure sales strategies are aligned with the resort's brand, guest experience expectations, and long-term business goals.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Leadership
Partner closely with key departmental leaders to ensure cohesive messaging, target alignment, and a unified sales approach.
Represent the resort at internal leadership meetings, industry events, trade shows, and client-facing engagements.
Performance Measurement
Set quarterly and annual sales targets in collaboration with sales leadership and monitor progress consistently.
Analyze sales reports, market conditions, and team performance to identify opportunities and adjust strategies proactively.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of hospitality sales experience, preferably in a resort, hotel, or comparable environment.
Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing and developing a team.
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue goals and growing market share.
Strong business acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work cross-functionally and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with CRM platforms, sales planning tools, and revenue management systems.
Background in group sales, corporate business travel, or leisure market segments.
Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Business, Marketing, or related field preferred.
