We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Controller to join our dynamic finance team, specifically focusing on our Prime Financing and Capital Markets operations. This is a critical role that will drive the accurate and compliant accounting for complex digital asset lending, borrowing, derivatives, and other structured products. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical accounting knowledge (US GAAP / IFRS), a strong understanding of traditional capital markets products and prime financing businesses, and a proven ability to apply these principles to the unique characteristics of the cryptocurrency landscape. You will be instrumental in building out scalable processes, ensuring robust internal controls, and providing insightful financial analysis for our rapidly expanding institutional offerings.

Job Duties

• Develop and maintain accounting processes for prime financing and capital markets, ensuring compliance with GAAP / IFRS and crypto-specific guidance.
• Apply standards like ASC 815, ASC 860, and ASC 825 to activities such as crypto lending / borrowing, derivatives, and prime brokerage services.
• Oversee accurate and timely recording of transactions, including interest, trading gains / losses, fees, and collateral movements.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements for prime financing and capital markets.
• Design and maintain SOX-compliant internal controls, addressing crypto-specific risks like custody, smart contracts, and private key management.
• Work with Product, Risk, and Legal teams to assess accounting implications of new products and ensure proper system setup.
• Identify opportunities to automate and improve accounting processes using blockchain data and external tools.
• Conduct P&L and balance sheet analysis, support audits, and stay updated on regulatory requirements impacting digital asset services.
• Assist in preparing regulatory filings and disclosures for prime financing and capital markets.
• Manage and mentor accounting teams, foster cross-department collaboration, and lead projects related to financial infrastructure and new product launches.

Job Requirements

Pay Transparency Notice : Depending on your work location, the target annual salary for this position can range as detailed below. Full time offers from Coinbase also include target bonus + target equity + benefits (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)). Pay Range : $201,365$236,900 USD.
