Job Summary : \n
\n- Role : Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
\n- Schedule : 3x12 hour night shifts (7p-7a); weekend rotation; holidays as needed
\n- Unit : 30-bed Cardiac Medical Progressive Care (PCU), rooms monitored by Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Department (CCMD)
\n- Patient Ratio : Typically 1 : 5; 1 : 4 with drips / BiPAP
\n- Staffing Support : Nurse Assistants 24 / 7; RN secretary 7a-11p
\n- Scheduling : 6-week self-assisted schedule via Optilink; based on departmental need, patient acuity, skill mix, and previous assignments
\n- Minimum Experience : 2 years Cardiac PCU required; first-time travelers accepted
\n- Preferred Experience : Previous Charge RN experience
\n- Certifications Required : BLS, ACLS; NIH preferred
\n- EMR System : EPIC
\n- Rapid Response Teams : Preferred experience
\n- Required Clinical Skills :
\n- Dysrhythmia interpretation & management
\n- Telemetry monitoring
\n- Pre / post cardiac catheterization care
\n- Peripheral & PICC line care / management
\n- Management and titration of cardiac / vasoactive drips
\n- Procedural sedation administration
\n- Chest tube & external CPAP / BiPAP management
\n- Tracheostomy management\n\n
\n- Patient Population Focus :
\n- Primary : Cardiac (CHF, ACS, arrhythmias, pre / post cath, MI, syncope, pacemaker)
\n- Secondary : Respiratory (COPD, pneumonia, BiPAP)
\n
\n- Mandatory Exam : Pass / Fail EKG exam required for all RNs
\n
\n
\n Ideal Candidate :
\n- Experienced Cardiac PCU RN, comfortable managing up to 5 patients, skilled in cardiac and respiratory care, and flexible with schedule and compliance requirements.\n
