Overview

Rutherford Regional Health System in Rutherfordton, NC is seeking an experienced Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) for a travel assignment. The Lab Tech will perform a variety of laboratory tests to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with established standards.

Responsibilities

Perform routine and specialized laboratory testing in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and other areas as assigned

Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment

Accurately record and analyze test results, ensuring quality control and compliance with regulatory standards

Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support patient care decisions

Maintain laboratory safety protocols and adhere to hospital policies

Participate in proficiency testing and continuous quality improvement initiatives

Provide guidance and support to other laboratory staff as needed

Qualifications

Current certification as MT (ASCP or equivalent) or MLT

Current license in North Carolina (if required by state regulations)

Minimum of 1–2 years of recent clinical laboratory experience in an acute care setting

Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Required Certifications : MT / MLT credential, BLS preferred

Required Education : Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology

Assignment Details

Contract length : 13 weeks, with potential for extension

Shift : 6 : 30 PM – 6 : 30 AM (Friday – Sunday)
