Position Description

Job Title : Gym Teacher

FLSA : Non-Exempt

Job Status : Part-Time; Wednesday & Thursday

Reporting Functions : Reports to Principal

Job Function : To develop each student's understanding of the relationship between good body function and exercise; to motivate each student to cultivate physical fitness, hygienic habits, and good social and emotional adjustment; to discover and develop talents of student in physical achievement; to develop strength, skill, agility, poise, and coordination in individual, dual, and team physical activities and sports, in accordance with each student's ability.

PRIOR TO INTERVIEW : Clear records of Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Fingerprint Check as required under Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Act 153 of 2014 (at least 1 year old.) As well as attendance at a Protecting God's Children class and Mandated Reporter Training.

Physical Demands : Must be in good physical shape to do this job with the ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time. Must have the ability to walk, reach with arms and hands, climb and balance; some carrying, pushing, and / or pulling may be involved; as well as some stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling; exhibit manual dexterity to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard and dial a phone; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds.

Working Conditions : Normal school environment; may have exposure to outside elements. Part-time; 16-19 hours per week; School hours are 7 : 30 AM to 3 : 00 PM. May be required to work beyond normal school hours to attend various meetings, school events, and retreats.
