Job Title : HVAC Installation Apprentice
Pay Scale : $18.00 – $22.00 per hour
Work Hours : 8 : 00am – 5 : 00pm with 1 hour lunch
Primary Job Function : An HVAC installer apprentice assists experienced technicians with installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Apprentices work in commercial, or industrial settings to learn the trade through hands-on experience and classroom instruction.
Reports to : RNC Manager / Foreman
Responsibilities
- Assist with installations and repairs : Help experienced technicians install chillers, cooling towers, boilers, package & split-system air condition equipment, piping, ductwork, according to project specifications & plans.
- Site preparation and cleanup : Safely remove old units and job site debris. Ensure the work area is clean and organized.
- Material and equipment handling : Retrieve parts and tools, load and unload equipment, and maintain an inventory on the company vehicle.
- Follow safety protocols : Adhere to all safety regulations, including using ladders and power tools safely, and working with electrical and pressurized systems.
- Customer service : Communicate with customers in a professional and polite manner while working in their businesses.
- Documentation : Complete installation paperwork and accurately fill out time cards.
- Technical support : Perform basic tasks like insulating refrigerant lines, cleaning furnaces, and learning to test electrical circuits.
Required qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent.Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.A strong desire to learn and a good work ethic.Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand and power tools.Must pass a drug screening.Physical requirements
Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including tight spaces like attics and crawl spaces.Comfortable working in a range of outdoor weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.Capable of lifting and moving heavy equipment, often weighing up to 75 pounds or more.Physical stamina for prolonged standing, walking, bending, and crouching.Skills and abilities
Communication : Clearly explain project details to customers and follow instructions from senior technicians.Mechanical skills : Understand how complex mechanical systems work.Troubleshooting : Identify and diagnose basic problems with HVAC systems.Attention to detail : Accurately complete tasks and paperwork.Technical aptitude : Read and understand blueprints and schematics, and be able to use basic math for load calculations.Reliability : Arrive on time and demonstrate a proactive attitude.
